• Engineer in the design of commercial, light industrial, institutional and residential facilities.
  • Determine design requirements for HVAC systems.
  • Inspect and analyze existing systems, determine the condition of existing systems, and verify operating parameters for accuracy.
  • Perform tests and troubleshoot existing systems. Recommend changes to the system in order to ensure good performance.
  • Prepare air distribution ducting plan and HVAC installation drawings for development by the draftsman.
  • Identify standard details and develop new details as required.
  • Use computers to run programs in order to calculate heat loads and solve engineering problems as required.
  • Review HVAC related Design packages and provide comments on HVAC plans and detailed drawings prepared by the design consultant to identify necessary design changes complying with the respective standards.
  • Review material take offs and cost estimates for the work as applicable.
  • Participate in HVAC commissioning activities, conduct walkthrough and prepare exception item list.
  • Review the TAB procedures and reports.
  • Knowledge of HVAC instrumentation and controls is required, DDC knowledge will be a plus.


  • Coordinate maintenance programs with user units to determine relative priorities and on-time completion of work in critical operating facilities with available work force.
  • Assign maintenance manpower within his assigned area to meet daily changes in operating requirements and priorities.
  • Recommend special work schedules, overtime or contractor participation to meet unusual or emergency situations.
  • Plan assigned T&Is field-wide, analyse and sequence all work requests; estimate required manpower, justifying when necessary requests for additional manpower, overtime or extension of unit downtime.
  • Assure that all details of material and equipment are available at jobsite.
  • Execute the actual work during a T&I period, coordinate activities of assigned craftsmen and such other personnel as are assigned (night shift coordination, etc.) to assist in the execution of the work.
  • Review Project Proposals to assure that maintenance aspects are considered in final design.
  • Coordinate maintenance work between Maintenance Divisions when services from various divisions are required.
  • Perform special assignments as directed, utilizing his engineering knowledge and experience. Such assignments may include work direction to one or more Maintenance Engineer.
  • Perform engineering analysis of real time, process control digital systems in central operations facilities to aid in fault diagnosis.
  • Evaluate maintenance activity on digital systems. Provide professional level expertise to the solution of complex hardware problems.
  • Responsible, under the general direction of Superintendent in assigned Maintenance Division and with work direction from Maint. Digital Systems Engineering Supervisor, for engineering support of scheduled and non- scheduled digital systems repair.
  • Systems are located in major processing plants (NGL, wet crude handling, refinery, gas plants, seawater treatment, power and crude desalting facilities).
  • Typically, the Maint. Digital Systems Engineer II will provide maintenance engineering support for complex, centralized process control with large peripherals such as printers, disk drives, card readers, such as Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA). Systems, including but not limited to Harris/4 used in seawater treatment and injection, Honeywell 4500 used in NGL plant central supervision, control application and FOX3 supervisory system used in Abqaiq Plants.
  • Provide technical support and/or work direction to Maint. Digital Systems Technicians and Engineer III, ensuring proper maintenance and repair for dependable operation in assigned central operation facility.
  • Perform fault diagnosis and difficult troubleshooting of central operation digital systems down to the component level by using software diagnostics, assembly or machine language programming and test equipment such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, simulators, etc.


  • Degree in Engineering (Mechanical)
  • Must have a minimum of 7 years job related experience; a good knowledge of the design and operating functions.
  • Must be willing to travel throughout area of operations and frequently commute to job locations in area other than residence.
  • Must be capable through job knowledge and experience to relieve any Maintenance Engineer field wide.
  • British/American or Canadian National Preferred
