Laboratory Engineer

Job scope (budget, management, specific criteria):

 

·         Performs laboratory duties related to safety, qualification training and analytical testing.

·         Assists with compliance protocols relative to fuel quality, statistical quality control, audits batch records, document retention and control.

·         Perform instrument calibration, recognizes errors, identifies root causes, applies process improvements.

·         Run laboratory tests and adjust test parameters to match field conditions.

·         Assists in configuration and implementation of LIMS for products analysis, fluid sampling and QA/QC of reporting. 

·         Develop the Lab Manual and procedures and technical procedures/testing protocols.

·         Provide technical expertise and guidance to laboratory staff.

·         Develops and delivers training material,

·         Supports the qualification of laboratory technicians.

·         Supports the evaluation of new equipment for purchase.

·         Monitors quality of process streams and products.

·         Supports the Oversight of contract sampling companies for fuels compliance.

·         Interacts with vendors, regulatory agencies, unit operations and the corporate Refinery team.

·         Maintains oversight of instrument calibration plan, method development and optimization.

·         Performs special projects assigned by Laboratory Manager.

·         Monitor the Laboratory consumables and maintain the stocks.

·         Able to read, interpret, and develop Material Safety Data Sheets

 

 

 

Typical background and experience required:

·         Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry, or related field required.

·         Min 10 years of directly related laboratory experience required In fields like chromatography, water analysis, ICP, GS-MS.

·         Minimum of 5 years prior experience with Refinery Lab & testing. Fuels testing and quality control preferred.

·         Familiar with the requirements and experience with ISO 17025, ASTM and other required standards

·         Computer literate with knowledge of commonly used business software applications, especially Microsoft Office (Word / Excel / Outlook / PowerPoint). Experience with LIMS is a plus.

·         Good knowledge in Process processes and installations,

·         Good understanding of oil and gas facilities maintenance.

·         High performance even under a heavy workload, and stressful situations
