About the Role
To provide expert technological advice and services in Process and Utility Systems to meet our clients’ business objectives. Provide expert utilities technology services to maintain integrity of the design of the processing units and to ensure process safety and asset integrity requirements with focus on Greenhouse gas management. Identify and develop opportunities to optimize process and utilities units. Provide expertise and technical know-how to internal stakeholders. Recognize, develop and champion scope for structural improvement in efficiency, reliability and safety to satisfy the required technical and economic standards. Execute detailed definition and design work for plant changes/improvements using our client’s Management of Change process.
The candidate is knowledgeable in Raw and Waste Water treatment, distribution and disposal technologies along with Cooling tower operations, Instrument air and Nitrgen generation and distribution system. Also, the candidate has demonstrable experience in commissioning and troubleshooting these utility systems.
The key drivers for the role are intended business outcomes and supporting  dynamic commissioning, startup and ramp up (CSURU) environment and establishing utilities as an integrated part of value thinking in the asset supporting the plant from ramping up towards achieving first 200 cargoes.
The role reports to Process Technology Team Lead.

To be successful, you will have:
  • A chemical engineering degree or equivalent with ~10 years of  industry experience having demonstrated relevant Utility skills and competencies.
  • Wider appreciation of Gas business processes and principles and experience in a Major Gas/LNG Project is an advantage.
  • Track record of demonstrated utilities commissioning and troubleshooting skills. Experience in conducting Integrated modelling studies.
  • Sound systematic approach to technical and multi-disciplinary challenges.
  • Strong analytical abilities having knowledge of process engineering tools and facility value drivers knowhow.
  • Ability to contribute to decision support and assurance as well as carrying out hands on technical evaluations.
  • Communicate with internal and external interfaces with strong spoken and written communication skills.

You will use your expertise to:

During Project Execute Phase (commissioning, start up, ramp up)
 
  • Identify and implement opportunities to maximize efficient use of production units while ensuring on-spec products.
  • Apply barrier thinking to risk-based assessments to ensure plant safety and integrity (incident investigations, Management of Change).
  • Propose and support development studies and projects related to plant performance, process safety and plant integrity improvements.
  • Develop monitoring tools and procedures, and perform test runs to determine operating boundaries to assist in achieving higher reliability and availability of equipment using process engineering expertise and technical know-how.
  • Advice on technological services to meet our client’s business principles and objectives, including safeguarding performance, monitoring, testing and process optimizations by leveraging technical expertise in the field.
  • Build and nurture a close working relationship with other Technical and engineering SMEs through networking and execution of studies and projects.
  • Develop tools & keep abreast of new technologies and drive case for change that will improve complex reliability, efficiency, production and environmental performance. Lead technical support to Operations and Engineering as required, e.g. In troubleshooting and problem analysis.
  • Build and optimize effective liaison with process technology, environmental, digital, operations and engineering teams. Closely interact with the laboratory to ensure methods, limits and sample schedule provide the correct feedback for supporting production, engineering and various process test-runs.
  • Ensure state-of-the-art methods and tools are available for the Utilities Technology section by regular contact with external consultants and vendors.
  • Monthly reporting of plant reliability, utility, availability, thermal efficiency and production to the shareholders in conjunction with reliability team.
  • During CSU and SURU period – act as technical support lead in one of the areas and provide assurance on commissioning and start up activities.
This role requires that you:  
  • This position is resourced for a period of 12 months to support the CSU and early operate of our client’s utilities.
  • This role will be based in Kitimat, BC.
  • Normal working pattern 10hrs/day 5 days a week, not always Saturday and Sunday off.
  • Living arrangements – Camp accommodation provided
  • No overtime prior to approval by company team leader.
  • Shift patterns to support critical start-up activities (12 hours per shift to align with team shift pattern, 7D-7N-4Break). Start of shift will be communicated closer to critical start-up activities.
  • Start-date of position (ASAP).
  • Are willing to comply with our client’s drug-free and harassment-free work environment and comply with all safety policies and procedures.
  • Undergo a pre-placement medical assessment of your fitness for duty, a background check and Pre-Site Access testing for alcohol and specified drugs.
