New Perm Opportunity!! Controller (Financial)

NES Fircroft is actively seeking an experienced Financial Controller for a permanent job opportunity with our client, a Wholesale Fuels Distributor based out of Grand Blanc, Michigan!!  This position will oversee all Accounting operations for our Client's business, directing the budget and financial forecasts for reporting purposes.

Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee all accounting operations including Billing, A/R, A/P, GL, Cost Accounting, Inventory Accounting, and Revenue Recognition.
- Coordinate and direct the preparation of the budget and financial forecasts, report variances, and prepare financial statements.
- Ensure quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting.
- Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.
- Manage and comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings.
- Analyze and report on financial status including income statement variances, communicating financial results to management, budget preparation, and analysis.
- Enhance and implement financial and accounting systems, processes, tools, and control systems.
- Execute month-end and year-end close process.
- Coordinate audit processes and liaise with external auditors.
- Manage the company's financial systems and budgets.
- Develop forecasts and business plans based on reports.
- Advise on investment activities and provide strategies that the company should take.
 
Required Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a financial controller, accounting supervisor, chief or senior accountant.
- Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures.
- Experience with creating financial statements, general ledger functions, and the month-end/year-end close process.
- Excellent accounting software user and administration skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work closely with a senior management team.
- Preferred but not required: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA
