JOB DESCRIPTION

The Instrument Designer will be involved in offshore greenfield and brownfield projects.

Reporting Relationship:

  • Reports to respective Project Instrumentation Design Lead for technical responsibilities.
  • Reports administratively to the respective HOD.
  • Plays a secondary role in Instrument Design deliverable development while supporting the Lead Designer and/or Senior Designers in accomplishing project objectives.
RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsibilities or Duties:
  • Review project drafting standards and documents to assure the drawings and documents are compatible and align with the overall project objectives. Brings discrepancies to the attention of Lead Designer or Senior Designer.
  • Work with Senior Designers to assure the integrity of project drawings and documents are maintained and consistent.
  • Understanding and knowledge of drawing / document organization and production and proficiency in the use of software / tools to produce them for assigned tasks. Minimal Direction / sketches needed from Sr. Designers or Lead Designers.
    − Process Instrumentation application, installation and hook up.
    − Control System application, installation and hook up including circuit design at the card level and backbone interconnect architecture.
    − Design and production of related fabrication materials and drawings.
    − Associated equipment layout and production of layout drawings.
    − Production of Instrument location plans and details.
    − Control system wiring and loop generation.
    − Attend project meetings and disseminate information as required.
    − Working knowledge of applicable codes and regulatory requirements.
  • Perform 3D design work using PDMS or E3D
  • Coordinate with Senior Designers or Lead Designers to insure verbally received information is communicated, clearly understood and documented as necessary.
QUALIFICATIONS

Required Experience:

  • A minimum of two to five (2 - 5) years' experience in Instrument design of upstream oil & gas greenfield & brownfield projects (excluding as a drafter)
  • The Instrumentation Designer must have a good general understanding and knowledge of each design discipline and previous experience and competence in executing assigned design tasks in a role subordinate to Senior Designer or Designers
  • 3D modeling using PDMS or E3D
  • Certificate in AutoCAD
  • Diploma in Technical Course
  • Potential visits to onshore & offshore sites (helicopter, boat, etc.)
