Key Responsibilities
  • Under general direction, participates in planning and conducts tests on materials, components, subassemblies, and tools
  • Participate in development of new downhole technology through assembly and testing
  • Additional repair and maintenance of electrical and mechanical systems
  • The ability to communicate effectively with others is necessary
  • Solid foundation of common tools used during technology development such as Multi-meters, O-Scopes, Mega-Ohm Meters, and Digital Power Supplies
  • Performs routine and non-routine testing/analyzing processes with demonstrated proficiency using pass/fail criteria
  • Ability to read and follow verbal and written test instructions and procedures
  • Ability to understand and interpret mechanical / electrical drawings and wire diagrams
  • Ability to troubleshoot using wiring diagrams, drawings, procedures, and measurement/test equipment
  • Works under general supervision for repetitive tasks, and under direct supervision for new tasks
  • Promotes safety awareness and environmental consciousness and complies with all applicable safety and environmental procedures and regulations
  • Promotes and takes an active part in continuous/quality improvement processes

Additional Responsibilities:
  • Debugs complex test setup problems and troubleshoots tools and equipment
  • Documents test procedures, data, observations, and results
  • Participates in planning and conducts assembly of components for prototype tools and for tests
  • Apply working knowledge of assembly tools and techniques
  • Documents assembly procedures and techniques
  • Apply working knowledge of materials, components, and their application. Incorporate Reliability, HSE and Quality analysis techniques in all job processes
  • Assists in handling field problems to maintain and improve products and services
  • Occasionally travels to offsite locations to assemble, test, repair, and operate equipment

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Skills typically acquired through 3+ years working in a related technician capacity in oil and gas or related fields (Aerospace, Manufacturing, or Electronics) or through 5 years of experience working in a related technician, manufacturing, and/or field operations capacity
  • Candidates having qualification that exceed the minimum job requirements will receive consideration for higher-level roles given (1) their experience, (2) additional job requirements, and/or (3) business needs. Depending on education, experience and skill level, a variety of job opportunities might be available from Senior Mechanical Technician, Principal Mechanical Technician up to Chief Mechanical Technician

Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge in the use of measurement devices (Ohmmeters, oscilloscopes, digital power supplies, etc)
  • Soldering skills/experience required
  • Must possess computer skills to successfully complete daily interactions with internal systems
  • Candidate must possess advanced familiarity with common hand tools including Torque Wrenches, Calipers, Scales, Pressure Gauges, Screwdrivers, Wrenches, and Crimpers.
  • Reading comprehension and writing skills are required
