Due to continued expansion in Schneider Electric UK and Ireland , we have a great opportunity for the right person to join our business in the United Kingdom and Ireland as a Senior Quantity Surveyor . In this role the successful candidate will work within our Global Customer Projects and Service Organisation as part of a collegial Contract Management Team, deeply embedded into the business whilst reporting to the regional Director of Contract Management.

Your Responsibilities

  • The focus of role would suit someone with experience in both a pre and post contract environment.
  • To support the sales and operational teams in negotiating and executing customer and supply chain contracts in line with company guidelines and internal legal advice.
  • Be operationally responsible for Contract Managers, as agreed with the Director of Contract Management, within the team to deliver business and function outcomes.
  • Develop Commercial/Contractual management strategy for projects and maintain this strategy to maximise margins.
  • Support (and lead where appropriate) in the management of the flow of information to and from Schneider Electric to ensure compliance with contractual obligations and protection of contract/commercial entitlements. Comply with Global Customer Projects and Service Organisation (GCP&SO) reporting procedures.
  • Work with the Project and Operations Teams to deploy a contract guide highlighting the project team's commercial and contractual requirements relating to rights and obligations under contract, key contractual processes and requirements for the development and submission of claims for variations, extension of time and any other claims.
  • Responsible for the development and management of commercial/contractual registers that detail all submissions, their substantiation requirements, follow up requirements and timing and ensure that no claim for time or money is lost due to Schneider Electrics failure to meet the specific requirements of a contract. Produce presentations to leadership on contractual issues and project recovery plans.
  • Ensures that all submissions of compliant monthly applications inclusive of all paperwork are undertaken and ensures technical and commercial completeness prior to submission.
  • Manage and lead on the build-up of information including claims and variations to facilitate prompt preparation of the Schneider Electric final account, including subcontractor accounts, and ensure receipt of cash through to issue of final certificate.
  • Initiating and leading project and business workshops to brainstorm ideas and actions to deliver successful commercial project outcomes.
  • Be aware of all major changes and developments in the areas of Construction related legislation, construction practice and Industry Standard Forms of Contract, and undertake mentoring and training as required. Ensure that developments in Schneider Electric governance process are rolled out and complied with where they affect Contract Management.
  • Develop an effective relationship with the Sales and Service teams so as ensure, effective sales to operations handovers .
  • Attend meetings as required to represent Contract Management.
About You


  • Qualified to degree level in relevant discipline ( Quantity Surveying, Legal or Construction Economics )
  • 8+ years of experience negotiating and drafting contracts and their execution.
  • Passionate about business and commercial matters with numerical skills and a drive to apply these in a business environment.
  • Knowledge of legal terms and applying commercial concepts to deliver success.
  • Strong problem-solving and communication experience.
  • Proven experience in the construction/M&E/datacentre/life sciences sector in a commercial/contractual role.
  • IACCM or additional professional membership would be advantageous.
  • Ability to work both individually and as part of a multi-functional team. Excellent team working and influencing skills.
  • The ability to communicate, influence, negotiate and challenge to deliver results with a customer centric mindset. Experience of dealing with and influencing project teams, customers and business leaders.
  • The ability to identify risk in project and sales opportunities, to then implement and manage those risks, procedures and contingencies.
  • Fluency in English (written and verbal)
