Aramco energizes the world economy.

Aramco occupies a unique position in the global energy industry. We are the world's largest producer of hydrocarbons (oil and gas), with the lowest upstream carbon intensity of any major producer.

With our significant investment in technology and infrastructure, we strive to maximize the value of the energy we produce for the world along with a commitment to enhance Aramco's value to society.

Headquartered in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and with offices around the world, we combine market discipline with a generations' spanning view of the future, born of our nine decades experience as responsible stewards of the Kingdom's vast hydrocarbon resources. This responsibility has driven us to deliver significant societal and economic benefits to not just the Kingdom, but also to a vast number of communities, economies, and countries that rely on the vital and reliable energy that we supply.

We are one of the most profitable companies in the world, as well as amongst the top five global companies by market capitalization.

This team is based in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia and manages one of the world's largest portfolios of on-shore and off-shore oil and gas fields. We provide opportunities to conduct pioneering studies, introduce new technologies and propose innovative development solutions.

The Reserves Consultant will lead technical reserves evaluation, estimation, reporting, classification and collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to complete reserves related studies. In general, the candidate must be specialized in reserves and resource evaluation, classification and reporting as they relate to new discoveries and producing fields, while having a broad experience in the oil and gas upstream business and subsurface evaluation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and guide technical assessment for the Reserves Division, which include significant liaison responsibilities with other departments within exploration, petroleum engineering & development, engineering services, marketing, finance and corporate planning.
  • Apply industry recognized reserves definitions, guidelines and defend decisions related to reserves.
  • Monitor daily exploration, delineation/extension, and development drilling activity as it impacts reserves.
  • Select key reservoir intervals for testing and assist in planning and interpreting test results.
  • Apply classical reservoir engineering in assessing uncertainty and undertaking reserves assessments, including: log and wireline formation test interpretation, pressure and rate transient analysis, PVT and SCAL interpretation, production performance and material balance.
  • Review geologic interpretation and mapping, including rock typing and facies characterization, reservoir communication, seismic application, sequence stratigraphy, etc.
  • Participate in integrated reservoir studies and quality check reservoir simulation results (history match validation, production constraints, technical assessment of forecast results, etc.)
  • PEER review 3D static and dynamic modelling in particular its fitness for purpose.
  • Understand commerciality assessment (discounted cash flows, net present value, internal rate of return, forecasting prices/capex/opex, etc.)
  • Develop less experienced staff through designing, implementing and overseeing professional development programs.
  • Represent Aramco in external technical conferences, symposiums, and forums.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Petroleum Engineering or related disciplines. While a M.Sc. or Ph.D. is desirable, additional exposure/training in business, economics or finance, is also beneficial.

  • Extensive experience in reserves estimation (both deterministic and probabilistic), resource evaluation, classification and reporting (e.g. PRMS, SEC, etc.), solid foundation in classic reservoir engineering, 3D static and dynamic modeling of reservoirs, and experience in enhanced oil recovery and/or unconventional reservoirs as they relate to reserve assessment.
  • Hands-on experience reservoir characterization, petrophysical analysis including log and MDT interpretation and core analysis, fluid characterization including PVT studies and geochemical fingerprinting, and well testing including pressure transient, rate transient analysis and wireline formation testing.
  • Supplemental experience in reservoir engineering, especially technical principles for developing long-term oil and gas reservoir depletion plans, economics evaluations, and key performance measures and benchmarking in E&P industry.
  • Experience working in a large organization with a varied portfolio of reservoirs, or had a wide range of experience in smaller companies.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience in presenting to executive management and large audiences.
