JOB DESCRIPTION

Wood is currently recruiting for a Study Manager - Technical Consulting - Process & Chemicals. Ideally this role would be seated out of our Calgary, AB office, but for the right candidate we will consider remote options in Canada. The Study Manager - Technical Consulting - Process & Chemicals will support the business in winning and executing a variety of early phase studies in all sectors of the Oil and Gas Industry with strong focus on Energy Transition.

Wood's Technical Consulting - Process & Chemicals team focuses on advising clients, investors, and asset owners on making the right investment decisions for their projects or assets. This team has the skills, experience, and creativity to add value from the earliest screening or conceptual phases through to the establishment of a robust basis of design in the pre-FEED stage, ready for FEED. The remit of Technical Consulting is to win and execute studies such as due diligence, gap analysis, feasibility, concept select and pre-FEED in the areas of Upstream, Downstream, and Midstream oil and gas sectors, including Decarbonization initiatives such as Carbon Capture, Hydrogen production and other emerging technologies. The Energy Consulting team makes use of the global Wood resources network to provide technical expertise needed for almost any challenge.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Commercial and technical management of studies and consulting engagements.
  • Support Company's business development efforts in pursuit of new consulting opportunities.
  • Development of proposals and winning work.
  • Working closely with clients to understand their needs, drivers, and objectives, and developing and executing projects to meet those needs.
  • Prepare technical proposals covering scopes of work, study schedules, and deliverables lists among others.
  • Prepare project execution plans and technical reports.
  • Work multiple studies at the same time without missing milestones.
  • Setting clear technical direction to the study team.
  • Lead, manage and coordinate the execution of studies through collaboration with multi-discipline study teams.
  • Understand and propose wider business goals and guide the input and decision making for the Consulting group.
  • Create a solid professional network within Wood and our partners.
QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering with Professional Engineer designation required. PMP Registration is a strong asset.
  • Minimum of 10 years' experience with oil and gas projects in a project management, project engineering, or discipline lead role.
  • Strong overall general engineering skills and broad multi-discipline experience.
  • Good understanding of front-end engineering studies including cost estimating, scheduling, and project contracting strategies.
  • Basic technical and commercial understanding of emerging energy transition trends, carbon capture, green and blue hydrogen, and general decarbonization of oil and gas facilities.
  • Excellent oral and written communication and client facing skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to lead and collaborate with multi-discipline/multicultural study teams.
  • Experience in preparation of robust technical reports.
  • Good understanding of project controls and project financial reporting.
  • Must be a Canadian citizen or authorized to work lawfully in Canada without sponsorship from Wood
