Job Title: Intermediate Project Scheduler
Location: Calgary, AB
Contract Length: 3-6 months (contract to be extended annually)
Start Date: May 6
Position Summary:
The Intermediate Scheduler will be accountable to the Project Manager(s) to assist the project team by overseeing contractors’ schedule and progress & performance reports. This is accomplished by the following:
  • Supporting project team in development of the project plans and assisting contractors to translate those plans into project schedules.
  • Assuring the credibility of information contained in the contractor’s schedule and progress & performance reports via audits.
  • Ensuring that contractors are adhering to project controls requirements and governing procedures related to planning/scheduling and progress & performance reporting.
  • Working closely with contractors to understand, evaluate, intervene (as needed), and provide necessary recommendations to ensure overall project planning objectives are met.
  • Provide functional support to the project controls team, and senior planning lead to ensure use of project controls procedures, codes and across the project by contractors.  
  • At the completion of the projects, assist in developing and recording the project’s as-built schedule and lessons “learned” for future reference.
 
Responsibilities:
  • Participate in project coordination meetings, internally with team and externally with contractors and other stakeholders (as required), relating to project planning and scheduling issues during the execution phase.
  • Oversee contractors project controls and schedule development and ensure project controls requirements are met.
  • Develop and incorporate detailed schedules for owners’ responsibility scope of work such as regulatory, contract formation, etc. as required by project.
  • Actively participate in periodic schedule interface management meetings with contractors, to ensure all interfaces are incorporated into the project Master Schedule Interface Log as well as Level 3 detailed schedule and monitor variances.
  • Assist project manager and other affiliated parties in identifying risks/ opportunities and support decision making by utilizing schedule analysis techniques throughout the duration of the project.
  • Understand quantitative schedule risk assessment to assist project lead planner in schedule risk reviews.
  • Coordinate with CSU team to develop detailed commissioning and startup schedule.
  • Assist project controls team in updating project level 2 integrated schedule, progress, and performance reporting, change management, cash flow development, forecasting, and variance analysis.
  • Ensure scheduling database, files and records are kept up to date.
  • Support Supply Chain Management in resolution of contract claims or disputes, including support of any forensic schedule analysis (as required).
 
 Requirements:
  • 10-15 years progressive experience in onshore EPC environments including previous experience in marine terminal, pipeline, power transmission line and substation projects.
  • Proficiency in use of Primavera project planner and MS Project, experienced in integration with other Microsoft system such as export/ import data functions. 
  • Proficiency using other computer programs such as Excel, PowerPoint, Power BI.
  • Ability to meet deadlines while maintaining attention to detail and data accuracy. 
  • Strong time management skills coupled with the ability to work independently and in an organized manner is considered an asset.
  • Builds effective interpersonal relationships in addition to creating a positive and productive team-oriented environment with vendors and engineering/construction contractors.
  • Demonstrates good judgment in problem solving and timely decision-making. 
  • Must utilize superior communication skills and maintain a professional approach to dealing with Team Members, vendors, and engineering/construction contractors.
  • Must be a team player: willing to continuously and proactively collaborate, share, and seek information and guidance.
  • Must be able to prepare and perform presentations to project team members.
  • Ability to travel to contractor offices and the project site as required.
