The successful Procurement Specialist will help source materials for assigned commodities, manage the supply base, and develop all contractual terms on selected production materials to optimize quality, reliability, price, delivery, and availability. The successful Procurement Specialist will take the lead in supply chain improvement initiatives like inventory reduction and management, management of Vendor Managed Inventory processes etc. and identify any cost or lead time reduction opportunities to improve supply chain performance.

Primary Responsibilities

• Perform day-to-day purchasing functions as needed and proactively identify and resolve issues with vendors and internal customers arising throughout the procurement process.

• Maintain accurate alignment between sales order due dates and supply due dates through procurement expedite and rescheduling activity, and execution of date management best practices.

• Actively pursue cost reduction programs with suppliers to lower cost and improve service or material availability.

• Identify potential bottlenecks and implement procurement strategies which support the company goals and long-term outsourcing objectives.

• Work with a cross-functional team and plan and implement a target inventory reduction/maintenance plan.

• Maintain metrics, monitor improvements, and document processes as required.

• Evaluate and/or monitor vendor performance using a vendor performance matrix based on knowledge of prices, delivery, and information received from departments and Project Managers relative to product/work acceptability and vendor service.

• Identify ongoing procurement process improvement opportunities, review with management, and implement as directed.

• Perform other work-related tasks as assigned.

• Comply with all NOV Company and HSE policies and procedures.

General Long-Term Responsibilities

• Proactively monitor supplier performance and identify problems, define solutions, and optimize quality, reliability, price, delivery, and availability.

• Possess a good balance of hands-on technical competency, particularly with ERP systems, coupled with the ability to learn and apply new knowledge about our people, products, and processes in resolving problems.

• Manage RFQs and PO throughout lifecycle of the purchasing process ensuring materials are received on time and financial transactions are complete and accurate.

• Actively participate in inventory management initiatives such as supporting OES reviews and last time buy action plans.

• Collaborate with team members to minimize supply disruptions and/or unexpected shortages to help promote high success of OTD to our end customers.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Must be a high school graduate.

• Can work well with a diverse range of personality types across multiple departments.

• MRP experience: Oracle Cloud or JD Edwards

• Experienced in the use of Microsoft Office software.

• Excellent organization and administrative skills, with an elevated level of diligence.

• Excellent planning and organizational ability to plan and prioritize work activities and multiple projects.

• Ability to work independently exercising sound judgement and decision-making skills.

• Strong customer relationship and communication skills.

• Strong written and oral skills to have the ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from vendors, suppliers, co-workers, and management.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• JD Edwards ERP experience

• An associate degree or higher in relevant field (supply chain, manufacturing, customer service)

• APICS CPIM Certifications

• Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing

• Knowledge of low volume, high mix Manufacturing environments
