JOB DESCRIPTION

Wood is recruiting for a National Instrument Technician to join the team in Malabo on a rotational basis.

The incumbent will perform the maintenance, testing, and repair of electric, electronic, mechanical, and

pneumatic instruments and systems used to indicate, record, and control equipment and components

of oil and gas production facilities in a manner consistent with regulatory and environmental rules,

regulations, and testing procedures.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform routine repairs, inspections, troubleshooting and maintenance activities on electric, electronic, mechanical, and pneumatic instruments and systems used to indicate, record, and control equipment, and components on the facility according to manufacturer's recommendations and company requirements
  • Performs inspections, troubleshoots and repairs of electric, electronic, mechanical, and pneumatic instruments and systems used to indicate, record, and control equipment and components according to applicable company requirements and specifications
  • Assist other personnel with equipment repairs and other duties assigned by Supervisor
  • Comprehensive working knowledge of the CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) to include work orders, spare part location, ordering, tracking, asset assignment and frequency
  • Recommends improvements to maintenance record keeping and reporting
  • Performs overhaul of minor and major equipment unassisted
  • Assigned by Supervisor as team leader for equipment testing procedures, fault diagnosis, and root cause failure analysis
  • Assigned by Supervisor as team leader in the installation and commissioning of new equipment
  • Mentor and train less skilled personnel in your department
  • Use self-learning techniques to continually progress in your role and responsibilities
  • Completes work in a manner consistent with Environmental Health & Safety policies and procedures
  • Carry out duties according to the facility Electrical Safety Rules & Procedures, participate and receive a rating according to the guidelines
  • Lead by example, and mentor other personnel with Health & Safety policies and procedures
  • Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of process system controls, electronic and pneumatic process controls, logic control, distributed controls, and metering systems, including best maintenance practices, troubleshooting, and repairs
  • Maintain a high standard of housekeeping and personal hygiene
  • Follow company requirements to execute equipment isolations for assigned tasks
  • Perform work according to all applicable codes
QUALIFICATIONS

  • Associates Degree, Engineering Degree, Vocational/Trade School, NVQ/SVQ 3, Certified Apprenticeship or equivalent required
  • Appropriate experience in instrumentation in the oil and gas industry may be considered in lieu of education
  • Previous offshore instrumentation experience preferred
  • Perform pre-job planning and hazard assessment, and risk assessment
  • Communicate in a clear and effective manner using written and verbal English
  • Advanced knowledge and application of electrical theory, ladder logic and appropriate level mathematical skills
  • Advanced equipment condition monitoring techniques and analysis
  • Advanced knowledge of PLC's, industrial computer systems, programmable logic controllers, fluid power systems, ESD and fire and gas detection systems
  • Advanced knowledge and understanding of pressure, level, temperature and flow electronic systems and pneumatic loops, including testing and fault finding
  • Advanced computer skills ( Microsoft office)
  • Equipment isolation Permit to Work, and LOTO process
  • Advanced knowledge of fiber optics, local area network, SCADA systems, and telecommunications equipment
  • Preventative maintenance and corrective maintenance procedures
  • Advanced knowledge and understanding of control valve operation, trip systems, including fault finding and testing
  • Knowledge of offshore oil and gas facility emergency procedures and safety systems
  • Ability to read, understand and follow schematics, technical manuals, procedures, PFD's, P&ID's, Safe Charts, and one line diagrams
