Subsea7 has an opportunity for a Site Project Engineer to join our busy Wester Fabrication site near Wick, on a full time, staff basis.

You will assist in the fabrication of pipeline bundles along with the maintenance/upkeep of the site. Compliance with and delivery against project plans, relevant engineering standards and contractual obligations is required. The Site Project Engineer will usually work as part of the Wester team but may also be required to provide information and engineering guidance to other functions within the business and may have responsibility for discrete work packages. The Site Project Engineer will be required to develop and check technical documentation for all site activities to safely deliver pipeline bundle systems for the North Sea. Work will in the main be carried out onshore however there may be times when there is a requirement to go offshore with this position.

What will you be doing?
  • Develop and issue Procedures and Task Instructions to control the work carried out by site personnel, ensuring that all relevant technical, safety and quality issues are included in accordance with Subsea 7 minimum standards. This may include liaison directly with the project team.
  • Provide skills, integrity and knowledge in key areas of discipline engineering, including design codes, legislative requirements and current good engineering practice. Understands project needs; identifies and addresses design parameters and problems; develops and implements solutions.
  • Involved in meetings/correspondence with Clients, subcontractors, 3rd parties, etc. in a technical capacity.
  • Be involved in design of fabrication aids and other equipment required for use on site in preparation for and during bundle fabrication. Carry out supervision and monitoring of this through to fabrication and delivery, ensuring that the company's quality procedures and relevant codes/standards are applied wherever applicable
  • Ensure ITP witness and hold points are maintained in accordance with the overall project Quality Plan and Subsea 7 processes.
  • Witness directly or liaise with Subsea 7 Inspectors to ensure that suitable contractual activities such as load tests, trial fits and stage inspections, are being carried out in accordance with Subsea 7 minimum requirements.
  • Prepare and perform engineering analysis of tasks relating to fabrication, to ensure the structural integrity of the equipment during operations.
  • Select suitable equipment to perform operational tasks on site, checking all aspects of the equipment to ensure it is operated safely and efficiently with suitable certification provided to meet statutory regulations. Also liaise with the various Subsea 7 departments and third party contractors to ensure all equipment is fit for purpose and fully compatible with Wester Site.
  • Assist more junior engineers/graduates as appropriate.
  • Provide technical briefings to site personnel ensuring that the overall working and safety philosophy of the project is fully understood by site personnel.
  • Identify any deviations from procedures and coordinate the change through the Management of Change process
  • Assist Fabrication/Construction Managers with the management of all project specific third-party contractors confirming all technical & operational aspects of the contract are observed.
  • Present / perform toolbox talks and ensure all safety and quality issues, either from TRA's or procedures, are passed to all personnel involved in tasks, (ie. hold and witness requirements).
  • Be involved in HAZID studies & TRA's of tasks detailed in the procedures.
  • Be involved in and have a good understanding of Specific Risk Assessments.
  • Provide assistance in the co-ordination/compilation of as-built material.
What experience would we like you to have?
  • It is desirable for candidates to be Degree qualified in an engineering discipline, however demonstrable industry experience is equally valid.
  • Full driving licence is essential
  • Previous experience in a similar role working on Construction or Fabrication projects is desirable.
  • Ability to function as a team member across multiple projects.
  • Sound communication skills, oral, written and electronic.
  • Ability to prioritise own workload, manage time and change control.
  • Ability to develop interfaces within a site/project structure, including other disciplines, bundle design engineers, drawing office, document control, project management, clients and suppliers.
  • Demonstrable ability to work within time/budget constraint
  • Commitment to Continuing Professional Development
  • Previous experience of Civil Engineering techniques advantageous.
