The Drawing Office Supervisor manages the local Drafting Office or a segment of a large Drawing Office by directing, developing, communicating and implementing the company's direction and strategic goals. He/she will contribute to business development and marketing internally to the company's employees as well as externally to the clients as required. Participate in the development of department strategy, including structure, personnel, procedural and services. Responsibilities may include business development, budget control, project & resource management, engineering operations, performance management, training and all other related business activities.

SPECIFIC KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & ACTIVITIES
  • Provide leadership for Drawing office personnel to ensure the delivery of quality work and services.
  • Identify project resource requirements and liaise with GPC Drafting Office and Engineering Managers to ensure availability and allocation management via resource planning tools.
  • Undertake checking of others work.
  • Assess resource requests and provide feedback on feasibility.
  • Participate in recruitment of both staff and contract personnel ensuring appropriate screening is applied.
  • Independently evaluate, organise and prioritise work for self and others. Conduct performance management reviews and reports.
  • Checking and approval of timesheets and SAP time.
  • Ensure department personnel are aware of and adhere to the Business Management System (BMS) , to the regionals ones and PM7.
  • Participate in technical audits of projects and studies.
  • Actively participate in relevant training and development to pursue continuing professional development.
  • Identify, evaluate and encourage training, for all reports.
  • Participate in reviews and development of departmental procedures and work methods.
  • Provide input for project CTR estimates for department.
  • Interface with discipline leads and / or group leads to ensure CAD deliverable schedule is being met and budget is on track.
  • Promote and facilitate department awareness of company QA and HSE procedures.
  • Responsible for ensuring that design services comply with company standards and processes in line with appropriate legislation.
  • Manage internal and external Drafting Office interfaces.
  • Interface and support the other GPC Drafting offices with resource allocation, back-up during holidays and lessons learnt sharing.
  • Develop standard project deliverables and efficiencies.
  • Ensure adequate Drawing Office input to applicable procurement activities.
  • Support induction and training programme for all department employees.
  • Support development and management of apprentice recruitment and training.
  • Ensure all staff reports participate and complete Performance Management Review (PMR) process.
  • Encourage awareness of department capabilities and competencies.
  • Support development of department structure and succession planning.
  • Ensure all mandatory training is completed by all department employees.
  • Ensure department time is recorded and approved in SAP on a weekly basis.
  • Encourage awareness and reporting of project variations amongst all department employees.
  • Actively support and promote the latest CAD tools developments developed internally, in the Subsea7 CAD community or beyond (PLM systems e.g.).
  • Encourage recording of lessons learned and Opportunities for Improvement (OFIs) to assist in improved company systems and services.
  • Promote personal CPD (continuing professional development) through regular engagement with the professional engineering community on an internal and external basis to increase knowledge and understanding and maintain up to date market information.
PERSON SPECIFICATION
  • Engineering Degree in Mechanical or Structural Engineering (others may be considered);
  • Minimum of 12 years of working experience;
  • Minimum of 2 years of leadership/team management with strong ability to lead a design team across multiple projects;
  • Ability to lead a design team across multiple projects.
  • Sound English and Portuguese communication skills, oral, written and electronic.
  • Ability to prioritise own and others' workload, manage time and change control accordingly and direct team members where constraints will affect a project in terms of programme or budget.
  • Ability to manage interfaces within a project structure, including other disciplines, drawing office, document control, project management, client and suppliers.
  • Demonstrable ability to work within time/budget constraints
  • Passion for team development, training, and mentoring of team members;
  • Proficient in Autodesk AutoCAD, Vault & Inventor software, and MS Office;
  • Very good knowledge of steel structures design and installation methodologies (background in offshore energy sector would be appreciated);
