Join TotalEnergies Renewables USA, LLC as a Policy & Regulatory Affairs Specialist reporting to our NYC office . T his is a new addition to our team as we are strengthening our presence in renewable energies.

The Policy & Regulatory Affairs Specialist will manage and execute the offshore wind project's public policy and government affairs strategy across a diverse set of relevant platforms and public entities in New York and New Jersey. This position will report to the Senior External Affairs Manager and closely coordinate with the Attentive Energy President on all public positioning efforts across both markets.

  • Develop and manage project's public policy positions across key issues at the state and local level;
  • Develop and maintain relationships with government leaders and public officials, with a primary focus on state and local leaders in New York and New Jersey;
  • Manage outreach and engagement databases as well as relevant CRM platforms to track KPIs and follow up actions;
  • Analyze ongoing political, regulatory and legislative developments across New York and New Jersey entities, such as NYSERDA, NJBPU, NYISO, PJM, NYPSC, in coordination with relevant project personnel from commercial, technical, and permitting teams;
  • Represent project at relevant public and regulatory entities as well as monitor ongoing activities and decisions impacting offshore wind and clean energy development;
  • Coordinate with in-state lobbying and political outreach activities as well as recommend engagement and public positioning;
  • Advocate for the project's policy positions at state, regional and national trade associations;
  • Support company on policy and legislative issues before industry associations;
  • Closely coordinate with relevant HQ and federal team members on public policy and government affairs issues as well as update/coordinate across projects and on national topics;
  • Recommend Attentive Energy's attendance, exhibition, and sponsorship of community and industry activities and events to best increase company visibility and positioning, in coordination with the project's and TotalEnergies' corporate communications team;
  • Represent and drive Attentive Energy's agenda in public forums and on policy and legislative issues before industry and trade organizations, and at offshore wind industry events;
  • Attend public and regulatory hearings and
  • Perform other tasks as assigned

INTERNATIONAL CONSIDERATION:

Activities

The Policy & Regulatory Affairs Specialist will:

  • Be responsible for and maintain working knowledge of industry and market information
  • Maintain and grow relevant relationships among public entities, trade associations, industry colleagues and advocacy organizations
  • Represent the project and advocate for the project's policy positions at state, regional, and national trade associations
  • Bachelor's degree in Political Science, Public Policy, International Relations, Public Affairs, or a related field;
  • 5+ years' experience in government affairs, political campaigns, think tanks and/or state and federal entities, lobbying, with preference for experience in offshore wind or clean energy deployment;
  • Strong project management skills and the ability to successfully work independently, multi-task, set priorities, and meet deadlines;
  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to communicate clearly and succinctly both verbally and in writing;
  • Demonstrated experience in building and maintaining relationships with external parties (including state and local agencies and officials);
  • Knowledge and/or experience with the offshore wind industry or other large clean energy development preferred.
  • Strong experience with common business software tools, such as Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel)
  • Willingness to travel, typically around project area and relevant offices.

Our office-based employees work together from dynamic workspaces 3 days per week to build teamwork through collaboration while also having the flexibility to work from home 2 days per week. TotalEnergies Renewables USA currently has offices in San Francisco, Boston, Austin, Houston, and NYC. The anticipated pay for this position is $85,000 - 125,000 USD. Compensation packages are based on experience , qualifications, and market.
