Candidate Profile

  • You are a Master's degree holder (or equivalent) in one of the following areas: Engineering / Economics / Finance / Energy.
  • A specialization in Energy and / or any professional experience in trading or related field would be appreciated.
  • Excel proficiency, VBA/Python is a plus.
  • You have an analytical mind that allows you to have a thorough comprehension of trading and marketing activities.
  • You are an effective communicator with the ability to establish strong relationships with key stakeholders
  • You fluently speak English. Ability to speak French will be an advantage
  • You thrive working as a team player, you have excellent attitude towards work, being stress resilient, and goal oriented with a keen willingness to learn.

What you will do

Your missions would typically include the following:

OTC and listed markets derivative transactions:

  • Identify discrepancies in the contractual documents exchanged between third parties. Settle disputes in collaboration with the relevant departments (Front Office, Legal, Credit, Treasury...)
  • Sending contracts, invoicing clients and settling service providers.
  • Ensure the collection of receivables in collaboration with the Treasury department.
  • Produce a daily and monthly portfolio statement for transactions negotiated on account. Ensure the invoicing and collection of these transactions.
  • Ensure reporting of transactions to regulatory bodies.
  • Identify, analyze and resolve anomalies between the positions in our management systems and those registered with the clearing house.
  • Calculating and settling the various financial flows linked to a futures activity: margin calls, security deposits, brokerage and clearing fees, option premiums, etc.
  • Ensure the follow-up of portfolio transactions. Informing the Front Office of expiring contracts and managing option products (exercise or expiration).
  • Produce the elements necessary for the accounting of the activity on listed markets.

Middle Office for affiliates:

  • Monitor exposure and risks related to positions.
  • Calculating and publishing daily results related to physical and derivative activity.
  • Support and assistance to traders.
  • Daily management of operations processed on the oil financial markets. Regular contact with the profession's players both internally (Front Office, accounting, finance, credit, treasury, Group subsidiaries) and externally (clearing house, counterparties, brokers). Demanding job requiring the ability to adapt to varying transaction volumes.

Context & Environment

You will work in the international commodity financial markets, both OTC and organized (ICE, NYMEX, CME, SGX...).

Around 550,000 contracts traded annually, i.e. approximately 17 million lots.

In compliance with internal procedures, the Back Office Derivative Analyst manages the positions taken on derivative instruments by the Trading and Shipping departments, ensuring the accuracy and completeness of the transactions and ensuring that they are fully monitored. This activity requires a good knowledge of derivative instruments and the financial and commercial terms characterising these contracts. In addition, he ensures the daily follow-up of the subsidiaries' activity by providing a publication and explanation of the results while monitoring the exposures and market risk.
