Position Purpose

The Canada Integrated Gas (CIG) business is comprised of two assets: A liquids rich appraisal play in Gold Creek and a mature, cornerstone dry gas asset in Groundbirch currently comprising of over 500 producing wells, four Shell owned and operated production facilities, 1000+ km of pipelines and integrated water infrastructure. Today the asset produces ~0.5bcf/d (88 kboe/d), with field development plans actively ramping production up to deliver volumes for Shell's share of the LNG Canada facility over a project life of ~40 years.

Or CIG team is currently seeking an Asset Integrity Inspector to provide operational support to the Canada Integrated Gas Assets with primary focus on integrity management programs, inspection programs, materials and coatings selection and corrosion control. The successful team member will focus their support on plant (static equipment), field (pipelines), or both, depending on their interests, skills, and business needs.

This team member can live in the Fort St John, BC or Grand Prairie, AB or Calgary, AB area as the location of this role is flexible. Approximately one week per month of travel on average would be required to support activities on site.

Accountabilities:
  • Contribute to the areas of pressure equipment, storage tank, and pipeline integrity management through supporting operations, inspection and maintenance activities relating to integrity, reliability, optimization, and safety
  • Provide technical advice on pressure equipment, storage tank, and pipeline inspection, mitigation, and monitoring requirements
  • Perform pressure equipment and pipeline maintenance quality assurance activities on assigned assets and communicate outcomes to appropriate stakeholders
  • Troubleshoot failures and provide recommendations based on materials failure analysis and causal analysis
  • Provide technical support to site operating and maintenance personnel related to pressure equipment and pipeline integrity maintenance requirements
  • Provide leadership in integrity management through providing guidance and coordinating resolutions of critical pressure equipment, storage tank, and pipeline issues in collaboration with various stakeholders
  • Consult with the Asset Integrity Technical Authority for guidance with general work planning and coordination to ensure a consistent approach across resources for overall process containment integrity
  • Manage regulatory requirements through effective communication and documentation related to in-service equipment, pipeline inspection, and repairs
  • Support with the implementation of pressure equipment and/or pipeline integrity management systems and processes

Requirements:
  • Must have legal authorization to work in Canada
  • Minimum 3+ years of experience in a related role, candidates with a higher level of experience are also welcomed to apply
  • Diploma/degree in Materials, Mechanical, Metallurgical, or Welding Engineering Technology preferred
  • Certifications in API 510/570/653 is desired but not required and training will be provided
  • Knowledge of corrosion inspection such as NDE, mitigation techniques, deterioration mechanisms, materials & coatings selection, failure analysis
  • Experience in Inspection data management systems, risk-based inspection, ASME pressure piping and equipment Industry standards would be considered an asset
