Circa £60,000 per annum - negotiable dependent on experience

Main Purpose of Role:

The main purpose of the role is to be a technical leader, building the operations integrity consulting business, developing client relations and executing technical work in cooperation with CEE, E&PM and AM. In addition to this the role includes: mentoring, providing input to recruitment, marketing, business development and capability development.

 

Responsibilities:

Leading Business:

The role requires a detailed understanding and implementation of a significant range of fundamental principles and complex techniques across a wide and often unpredictable variety of contexts. It has a wide scope for personal autonomy and significant responsibility for the work of others.

 

  • Responsibilities for project execution and proposals within the discipline as required for the asset integrity team including:
  • Responsible for the management and execution of projects and technical support of projects as required, including managing budget and schedules;
  • Responsible for maintaining a technical dialog with key clients;
  • Provide Technical Authority role as required for client and Penspen assets;
  • Responsible for preparing technical proposals and inputting into technical proposals working closely with the Proposal team;
  • Traveling to regions to support activities as required;
  • Reviewing and authorising deliverables as required;
  • Providing assistance in technical audit programmes within the discipline;
  • Developing Penspen’s technical brand by engaging with clients and industry and proactively supporting: the publication of papers, external training, conference organisation, Joint Industry Projects (JIPs), links with institutions and universities and the creation of technical web content in support of Penspen’s Sales and Marketing team;
  • Manage and mentoring junior staff within Asset Integrity team;
  • Supporting other regions Asset Integrity teams.
  • Responsibilities for the development of capability within the discipline including:
  • Responsibility for building on the Asset Integrity team’s existing knowledge base, lessons learnt and practical knowhow with input from the discipline technical communities;
  • Working with the technical community to develop/recommend the adoption of in-house and third party software;
  • Working with technical discipline communities to develop concepts for new products and services;
  • Input to competency and performance assessments;
  • Providing assistance in determining any skills gaps;
  • Being accountable for and responsible for identifying and assessing the competencies of third parties as required for project execution, mentoring, training, product development, sales and marketing.

  • Ability to assess and provide commercial input into proposals.
  • Ability to define the cost of performing work.
  • Ability to work within an agreed budget and report against it.
  • Support reducing overhead costs.
  • Identify opportunities to deliver work more efficiently.

 

Key Performance Indicators:

  • Feedback on technical communities;
  • Utilisation of self and engineers in the same team;
  • Client feedback;
  • Proposals submitted and awarded;
  • Projects financials (delivering as-sold margin or better);

 

Knowledge / Experience (Skills):

  • 15-years’ experience within the relevant technical discipline;
  • Excellent verbal/written communication skills;
  • Proven experience in pipeline integrity management, audits, Fitness for service, Risk management;
  • Proven experience in working with international and national standards;
  • Excellent depth and breadth within the relevant discipline (Technically Excellence);
  • Proven experience in leading teams, developing methods, mentoring individuals and developing competencies;
  • Engagement with industry via technical committees, conferences and delivering technical papers;
  • Extensive experience working within a consultancy environment;
  • Extensive experience of writing technical proposals and reports;
  • Extensive experience of (and an enthusiasm for) development of Engineers to allow them to achieve their potential and career aspirations;
  • Willingness to travel and work at various Penspen/customer locations;
  • Relevant administrative software skills including Microsoft.
