JOB TITLE: Engineer I - Construction (Preservation)

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • The Preservation Engineer-I on site / yard will report directly to the Senior/Lead Preservation Engineer and will be responsible to execute the preservation activities under the Petrofac responsibility and/or supervise Sub-Contractors preservation resources based on the subcontract responsibility matrix.
  • A Preservation Engineer-I shall be responsible for:
  • Preparing and maintaining all preservation records
  • Updating preservation schedule listing weekly activities
  • Applying initial Preservation where not applied or where the Preservation is removed for construction or installation purposes.
  • Re-applying preservation as per vendors procedure, where Preservation has been damaged during transportation.
  • Ensuring Initial Preservation of bulk materials, including piping, valves, and complete piping systems according to the applicable specifications
  • Following manufacturers/Vendors recommended preservation practices and procedures.
  • Controlling the filling out and placing of all Preservation labels
  • Determining and maintaining the stock of preservation consumables required
  • Preparing a list of preservation consumables including vendors recommended consumables, general preservation consumables for new preservation or maintenance etc. Inventory of preservation consumables shall be maintained by the Preservation Engineer.
  • Perform weekly walkdown inspection of the material and equipment available in the storage area / warehouse
  • Perform daily walkdown inspection of the material and equipment shifted to the construction area and ensure its proper handling and arrangement.
  • Fill and sign the preservation check sheets and P-ITRs relative to the equipment and bulk upon inspection. The inspections must be in line with the inspection schedule
  • Maintain all the preservation records.
  • Report all the observations and findings to the Senior Preservation Engineer and liaise with the responsible person to clear the observation as soon as practically possible.
  • Liaise with the Material Controller to ensure that bulk material is properly segregated and stored.
  • Ensure that all preservation material is available and keep track of the inventory.
  • Supervise the subcontractor while executing the field activities.
  • Perform the maintenance related activities for the commissioned equipment in accordance with the maintenance and operations manual upon liaising with the responsible Commissioning Engineer.


ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
  • 5+ experience in direct hire construction with an international E&C company including at least 5+ site experience in the oil & gas industry handling preservation.
  • Relevant degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited college or university.
  • Preference will be given to candidates who meet the following criteria:
  • Prior experience working with a diverse international workforce.
  • Experience in management of preservation of project equipment and materials.
  • Excellent leadership and communications skills
  • Has knowledge and experience to independently perform, solve complex issues and provide guidance.
