Control Systems Engineer

Position Summary:

Provide the necessary technical support of control systems including Integrated Control and Safety System ICSS, Process Control Network (PCS), Supervisory Control And Data Acquisition (SCADA), Programmable Electronic Systems (PLCs), Human Machine Interfaces (HMIs) for operation, maintenance activities and project modification. This will also include management and maintenance of software and logic solver backups.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Provide technical support and troubleshooting to maintenance and operations on control systems and equipment.
• Assist with troubleshooting and maintenance of Control and Instrument Systems such as PLC, DCS and ESD systems
• Assist in developing conceptual or/and detailed in-house software and hardware control systems modifications.
• Perform root cause failure analysis and make recommendations to avoid future failures
• Progress assigned engineering queries, evaluating and effecting the appropriate solutions to close-out

• Participate and take a practical role in preparing and reviewing preventive maintenance strategies related to control systems  implementation
• Perform critical disaster recovery of control systems equipment such as PLCs, HMIs.
• Review spare parts specification and participate in obsolete spares replacement identification.
• Exhibit good safety behaviour through conducting safety conversations & safety observations.

Education:

• A Degree in Electronic, Control or Instrumentation engineering or equivalent level

Minimum Requirements:

• At least 08 years working experience in maintenance, engineering of control and instrument systems
• Competent to carry out troubleshooting and modification on process and safety control systems

• Knowledge of PLC, SCADA / HMI control system, hardware and architect and application of instrumentation related standards, code and regulation
• understanding of instrument hook up drawing, interfacing between DCS, PLC & other systems and auxiliary plant, field Instruments, control valves, analysers.
• Knowledge and understanding of plant HSE systems and procedures
• Knowledge of preparation of technical specification/ documents
• Basic computing skills are a pre-requisite
• Good communication and problem-solving skills, with good attention to detail and an ability to work within multicultural team environment.
• Knowledge of French and English languages
