About the job:
Kent is looking for a Project Manager - Major Projects to be based in our Houston, TX office.

You will oversee execution of projects up to $350M in EPC and EPCM mandates. You will execute project(s) as the primary point of project leadership regarding performance or non-performance of assigned projects and foster strong relationships leading to growth in project portfolios.

You will create and maintain an attitude of leadership towards the project team with respect to overall management activities including quality assurance, engineering, procurement, planning and controls, construction management, pre-commissioning, and safety to achieve a quality project while respecting the established budget and schedule objectives.
Skills and Responsibilities:
  • Be a champion for Health, Safety, Sustainability and Environment.
  • Perform in a Lead role as proposal manager in coordinating development of proposals, inclusive of evaluating scope, cost, and schedule as part of a project execution strategy and bid that meets/exceeds the Owners objectives.
  • Manage and comply with prime contracts, master and professional service agreements with Owner and Legal Department.
  • Meet key project indicators developed as part of the execution of a project.
  • As owner of the change management process, ensure that changes from initial project objectives and scope of work are properly and timely identified, clarified, documented, and formally communicated to the Client.
  • Be accountable for scope, cost, schedule, quality, safety, and procurement on projects which you are managing.
  • Develop and present monthly management reports for Client and Kent Executive Leadership.
  • Provide guidance on design processes and/or construction execution.
  • Participate in improvement of company's project work processes through lessons learned.
  • Manage the relationship with the client and all stakeholders.
  • Perform risk management to minimize project risks.
  • All other duties as assigned.

In addition to the responsibilities listed herein, the employee may be required to perform other ad-hoc tasks as needed or directed by the supervisor or management. These tasks will be within the reasonable scope of the employee's skills, capabilities, and role within the organization. The intent of this provision is to allow for flexibility and adaptability in meeting the dynamic needs of the organization, ensuring that operational requirements can be met efficiently. All such tasks will be assigned considering the employee's current workload and with respect to their professional development.
Your knowledge/skills, education, and experience: Knowledge/ Qualification/ Training/ Certification:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or other related technical degree from a four-year college or university required.
  • Minimum 20 years direct work experience in a project management capacity.
  • Prior direct experience in managing EPC, EPCM projects up to $350 million.
  • In-depth understanding of the Oil & Gas industry.
  • Understanding of the engineering and construction industry by way of experience in past employment with EPC companies or clients.
  • Self-starter with hands-on approach and out-of-the-box thinking in development of project execution strategies that win projects.
  • Experience and proficient in stage gate process.
  • Previous experience as a Project Manager on mid to large size EPC projects is required.
  • Downstream Petrochemical, Energy or related experience and US Gulf Coast project experience is required.
  • P.E. license (preferable in the State of Texas) is preferred.
  • Prior experience in project execution utilizing workshare across offices.
  • Previous FEED and EPC and EPCM projects experience is required.

Communication:
  • Excellent oral, written, presentation, and interpersonal/rapport building skills necessary to work effectively as a team member, and to plan/coordinate processes for results.

  • Works autonomously without direct supervision.
  • Must be able to work under the rigors of project execution.
  • Strong team player with exceptional communication and organization skills; focal point of all owner communication.
