About the position :

As part of the development of the Multidisciplinary Section "Materials and Welding", we are looking for a Senior Welding Engineer/Specialist (F/M). On behalf of the Engineering Division, during the FEED and EPC phases of Onshore/Offshore Projects, the Candidate will perform activities related to Welding and Non-Destructive Examination applied to onshore/offshore structures, power and process piping, pressure vessels, heat exchangers, storage tanks and other equipment/packages.

Duties and responsibilities

Reporting to the project Lead Materials & Welding, the Welding Engineer/Specialist shall ensure that the Sub-contractors (Vendors/Yards) provide base materials fit for service and maintain the technical integrity of all welded fabrications.

As an experienced Specialist on major contracts, your main duties will be the following:
  • Participate to technical meetings (KOM, PIM, etc) and audits worldwide with our Clients, Partners and Sub-contractors;
  • Review Client and/or Partners specifications and prepare project specific deliverables;
  • Manage the review of Sub-contractors technical documentation for which the Candidate is responsible during EPC phases (typically, but not limited to:
    • Material specifications for purchase,
    • Manufacturing procedure specifications,
    • Welding Books including WPS & PQR,
    • Fabrication & Quality control plans,
    • NDE procedures,
    • PWHT procedures,
    • Testing procedures,
  • Respond to Client and Vendor technical queries during the clarification process (ensure the contractual requirements are taken into account);
  • Manage work time budgets and progress;
  • Report to the project Lead Materials & Welding;
  • Ease interface communication with other Disciplines (e.g. pressure vessel, piping , procurement, inspection, etc.) including technical support on Welding and Non-Destructive Examination topics during commercial clarifications;
  • Upon request, participate to technical visits to Sub-contractors premises (Vendor/Yard) for resolution of main Non-Conformance.

  • Upon request, support to quality and construction site teams at Sub-contractors Yard for fabrication start-up.


As part of the development of the Materials & Welding section, the Candidate will also participate to the Discipline Technical Referential improvement (e.g. Templates, Guidelines, Technical Notes and Reports, Feedbacks, etc.).

The Candidate shall demonstrate his experience and competence as follows:
  • Knowledge of relevant design and fabrication codes for pressure vessels, piping and onshore/offshore structural fabrication including NDE standards such as API, ASME, ASTM, AWS, DNV, EN, ISO, NORSOK, etc.;
  • Preparation of Welding and NDE specifications to be attached to the Material Requisitions;
  • Technology and selection of welding processes (SMAW, GTAW, PAW, GMAW, FCAW, MCAW, SAW, etc.) welding procedure qualification and welder performance qualification;
  • Knowledge of materials manufacturing and weldability of non-alloy and low-alloy steels, high strength and extra high strength structural steels, austenitic, duplex and super duplex stainless steels, Ni-based, Cu-based alloys, etc.;
  • Knowledge of weld overlay and dissimilar welding processes;
  • Knowledge of various forging processes, valve manufacturing, wrought fitting & heat treatment processes;
  • Knowledge of conventional NDE (RT, UT, MT, PT, VT);
  • Familiarity with typical fabrication & inspection documents such as: drawings, ITP (Inspection and Test Plan) and FQCP (Fabrication and Quality Control Plan), pressure tests, ferrite & hardness tests, etc.;
  • Attendance to technical meetings and visits, i.e. Kick-Off Meeting, Pre-Inspection Meeting, Expediting Visits, when required by Project;
  • Technical support for NCR resolution;
  • Support the Quality Control Leads and Field Engineers/Construction Managers;
  • Provide on-site assistance to resolve Yards/Vendors technical issues relating to NDE;
  • Capable of identifying problem areas early and proactively resolving issues;
  • Interfacing with engineering, vendors and construction contractors timely and with proactive attitude.


Profile :

Minimum ten (10+) years of proven experience including workshop/field practice as Welding Engineer/Supervisor in the Petrochemical, LNG and/or Oil & Gas industries on EPC projects. Experiences in other industrial sectors may be considered if relevant. You can demonstrate a comprehensive knowledge of engineering, manufacturing and fabrication processes for all types of contracts, and you are capable of team working and of technically coordinating a team of specialists.

Ideal candidate must hold a valid IWE/EWE Certification.

A Graduate degree equivalent to a Master of Science is required.

Self-managing, dynamic and responsive, you can communicate clearly and efficiently having excellent coordination and team working skills in a multi-cultural environment of international material, welding & NDE specialists. You are an excellent listener and advisor with remarkable problem-solving and negotiation attitudes, you are used to assume your responsibilities by taking decisions in complex situations.

Written/spoken French and English at fluent level are necessary, and you are available to complete short assignments in France and abroad.

Would be a plus: Good knowledge of NDE methods including ISO/COFREND Level II certification as well as experience in field construction and inspection activities.
