JOB TITLE: Senior Manager - Piping

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Resource management and supervision of piping engineers, designers, and technical personnel.
  • The project and department objectives were articulated and communicated to the team.
  • Providing technical expertise during various phases of project execution and proposal engineering as required
  • Perform/Monitor all Gate reviews, HOD TBE reviews if requested, in absence of HOD
  • Follow-up on Contract Review closeout, Gate review closeout, Line of sight Closeout, and Value Engineering Session closeout
  • Ensuring applicable lesson learned implementation on projects.
  • Promote a fit-for-purpose design philosophy.
  • Operate and Promote First time Right Policy.
  • Focus on project risk management
  • Driving Prompt response to site query
  • Provide support to lead to a stronghold of the project goals (Ensuring integrity and safety of the design, meeting quality as per contractual intent, meeting schedule, optimizing procurement and construction cost, and maintaining high productivity)
  • Exhibit strong leadership and soft skills to excel in a work-sharing environment.
  • Greater flexibility in mobility.
  • Engage construction, commissioning, and operation teams for their input and reviews early on projects.
  • Identify, Evaluate, and finalise outsourcing of any detailed design scope to Engineering subcontractor
  • Co-ordinate with the procurement team for prioritizing orders, which are crucial to obtaining critical data for engineering.
  • Effective material control of bulks
  • Escalate serious risks to senior management and always have a backup plan.
  • Perform a scheduled weekly meeting with the project piping team about the micro-level plan prepared by the project lead and the progress report issued by the project.
  • Involve in internal/Client model reviews
  • Evaluate competency of each individual and organize training based on the gaps identified to enhance competency
  • Carry out the role and responsibilities of the functional manager for team
  • Support HOD in setting and Managing department objectives, KPI, and budgets and aligning these to the requirements of management
  • Support the HOD in promoting innovation, departmental improvement, and teamwork.
  • Support HOD in developing strategies for continuous improvement of knowledge base , cost consciousness , quality and safety in response to demands of EPC business
  • Conducting in-house training programs on topics related to piping design activities.
  • Support the employee performance evaluations, establish performance criteria, identify employee strengths and weaknesses, and recommend training and development requirements.
  • Perform related duties as and when required by HOD
  • Review and moderate as required the piping cost and man-hour estimate
  • Develop manpower charts and schedules; recommend, assign, and distribute manpower for the execution of engineering activities within budgeted project man-hours. Recommend cost-effective measures to reduce overall manpower costs.
  • Interface with and regularly meet with client and vendor representatives, conduct internal staff meetings, and ensure the progress of the project in accordance with the schedule, allotted man hours, and budgeted costs. Coordinate with projects and planning departments on schedule-related issues.
  • Interact with Quality Assurance for quality issues; strictly ensure compliance with the client's ISO quality procedures. Coordinate internal and client audit requests; facilitate audit procedures of engineering systems within the department.
  • Interface and provide clarification, guidance, and technical support to construction sites and commissioning engineers; provide start-up assistance as required.
  • Good knowledge of Codes and standards

Essential Qualifications and Skills:
  • Rich experience in FEED, detailed design, and EPC projects in the piping discipline.
  • In-depth knowledge of standard international specifications and codes.
  • Knowledge of safety and quality procedures. Activity scheduling and discipline work priorities.
  • Typically, a minimum bachelor degree in mechanical engineering is required, along with 23+ years of related experience working in a similar position for an engineering or client organization in the oil and gas industry.
