About the job:

Kent is hiring a Senior HR Business Partner to support our Canada Operations BU in implementing and administering HR activities and
programs.

You must be able to operate strategically but also tactical to complete work at an operational level.

Your responsibilities:

  • Provides subject matter expertise on local labor laws and HR practices to client group
  • Builds credible relationships with front and mid-level leaders through trust, collaboration, and effective communication
  • Collaborates in the development and implementation of policies and procedures; recommends new approaches that add value to the business
  • Maintains knowledge of legal requirements affecting human resources; coaches' leadership to ensure practices are compliant with implicated regulations
  • Investigates HR issues from reporting to resolution while upholding the highest level of integrity and confidentiality
  • Is able to work autonomously and in a team environment as applicable
  • Supports key HR processes, including performance management, talent development, training & development, and rewards & recognition
  • Develops and improves employee onboarding and offboarding experiences
  • Supports the recruiting process as appropriate for the business unit; collaborates with business leaders and recruiting partners for posting details and interviews applicants as required
  • Facilitates the processing of employee transactions (i.e. promotions, new hires, terminations, job changes, salary changes, etc.) via Oracle HCM
  • Maintains high level knowledge of benefit program; facilitates in getting employees connected to benefits resources.
  • Maintains knowledge of regulated leave programs; collaborates on the administration of employee leaves with Operations and Benefits team
  • Gathers and analyzes data with HR metrics and prepares reports utilizing Oracle and other HRIS platforms
  • Collaborates with business partners from the corporate HR team, payroll and safety to support the administration of various programs and policies.
  • Responds to and/or coaches' leadership on employee relations issues; prepares documentation as appropriate; escalates matters to HR leadership as appropriate.


Your knowledge/skills, education, and experience:

Qualification/ Certification:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources or related field preferred
  • Minimum 3 years' experience as a Senior HR Business Partner in a construction or manufacturing setting
  • Strong understanding of employment standards and HR best practices
  • Knowledge of applicable legislation and regulatory HR guidelines
  • Ability to oversee multiple tasks at once with minimal direction


Skills Requirement:

  • Demonstrated leadership, critical thinking and mediation skills
  • Proven organizational skills and ability to prioritize effectively
  • Proven problem solver, results focused, self-motivated and strong customer service skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • MS Office (Excel, Word and PowerPoint) proficiency required
  • Experience with Oracle software preferred
  • Must have tangible employee relations skills with the ability to handle investigations, grievances, and other inquiries.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and respond to changing priorities.
  • Excellent customer service and relationship building skills; ability to interact professionally and knowledgeably with wide variety of individuals.

Communication:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication and listening skills required
