About the job:

A Cost Controller is responsible for managing and controlling project costs to ensure that they align with the budget and financial goals of the organization.

We are recruiting engineering and project professionals for various roles for a Project Management Consultant (PMC) team to be engaged in projects across Europe but based in Munich.

These positions will form a Project Controls team supporting the delivery of small projects within the Burghausen, DE refinery. The Project Controls lead will lead this team. Projects will include brownfield modifications, and routine maintenance projects within the refinery, generally up to 20m EUR in value.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and prepare project budgets in collaboration with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders.
  • Work with project teams to establish cost control procedures and processes.
  • Monitor project expenditures to ensure they are in line with approved budgets.
  • Analyze cost variances and identify the root causes of deviations from the budget.
  • Regularly review and update cost forecasts based on project progress and changes.
  • Prepare and present regular cost reports to project management and other stakeholders.
  • Provide financial insights and analysis to support decision-making.
  • Evaluate and assess the financial impact of changes to the project scope or other factors affecting costs.
  • Work with project managers to implement change orders and adjust budgets accordingly.
  • Identify and assess potential risks to project costs.
  • Develop risk mitigation strategies and contingency plans.
  • Review and approve invoices from contractors and suppliers, ensuring accuracy and compliance with contractual terms.
  • Ensure that project costs are in compliance with contractual agreements.
  • Work with legal and procurement teams to address any contract-related issues.
  • Support the development of cost estimates for new projects or modifications to existing projects.
  • Use cost control software and tools to streamline processes and improve accuracy in tracking and forecasting costs.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement in cost control and implement best practices.
  • Stay informed about industry trends and changes in regulations that may impact cost control processes.


Your knowledge/skills, education, and experience:
  • A bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a related field.
  • Effective communication and collaboration with project managers, engineers, finance teams, and other stakeholders are essential.
  • Team Player.
  • Attention to detail, ensuring early detection of potential project issues.
  • Strong understanding of the oil and gas industry, project management principles, and financial management is crucial.
