Aramco energizes the world economy.

Aramco occupies a unique position in the global energy industry. We are the world's largest producer of hydrocarbons (oil and gas), with the lowest upstream carbon intensity of any major producer.

With our significant investment in technology and infrastructure, we strive to maximize the value of the energy we produce for the world along with a commitment to enhance Aramco's value to society.

Headquartered in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and with offices around the world, we combine market discipline with a generations' spanning view of the future, born of our nine decades experience as responsible stewards of the Kingdom's vast hydrocarbon resources. This responsibility has driven us to deliver significant societal and economic benefits to not just the Kingdom, but also to a vast number of communities, economies, and countries that rely on the vital and reliable energy that we supply.

We are one of the most profitable companies in the world, as well as amongst the top five global companies by market capitalization.

Overview

We are seeking Geologist, with expertise in characterizing and advancing unconventional appraisal programs to full field development projects, for the Eastern Unconventional Characterization Division (EUCD) within the Unconventional Resources Exploration & Characterization Department (URE&CD).

EUCD is responsible for evaluation and de-risking of shale gas and liquid play concepts through initiating and executing integrated subsurface projects to support planning and execution of field development plans to meet production targets. In addition, the division supports drilling and production engineering teams for drilling and hydraulic fracturing operations.

A geologist's primary role is to integrate/generate appropriate subsurface data from regional to field-scale to perform geological evaluations, create fit-for-purpose geological models, in-place assessment for resources, flowback assessment, and participate to integrated reservoir studies.

Duties & Responsibilities

As a subject matter expert, you will;

Use/maintain geological models to conduct and document reservoir characterization work-flows via generating cross sections from well logs, maps, cores, cross plots, histograms, summary tables, and written reports for different stratigraphic intervals to recommend placement of wells and supplementary processes to enhance production.

Evaluate current practices and identify opportunities for innovative improvements using data science applications to predict reservoir quality.

Actively participate in the well planning process to optimize well locations using a variety of geological and geophysical data.

Monitor and trac wells, performing well evaluations during and post frac jobs, generating and/or updating maps for structural, stratigraphic, fluid limits in light of new drilling and flowback information.

Provide geological input into generation of appraisal and development plans for resource assessment and development optimization.

Work closely with drilling, production and reservoir engineering teams and champion operational activities from planning to execution.

Effectively communicate through presentations to technical peers and management teams to enhance in-house knowledge.

Provide support, recommendations and advise in the area of expertise.

Mentor and develop newly hired and young professionals.

Minimum Requirements

As the successful candidate will hold a Bachelor's degree in Geology or a related science, however an advanced degree is preferred.

You must have at least 8 years or more of experience and active technical roles, with at least 5 years in shale unconventional plays, we will consider candidates with more or less experience, depending on the quality of their experience.

You will also have;

Experience in building, maintaining and evaluating large and complex geological models utilizing geological modeling software.

Working knowledge in the integration of sedimentology, depositional environments, petrophysics, geophysics, geochemistry, geomechanics and well placement.

Experience working with the production and drilling teams on well performance and optimization.

Previous experience working with reservoir engineers and reserve auditors to determine reserve and resource estimations is preferred.

Working environment

Our high-performing employees are drawn by the challenging and rewarding professional, technical and industrial opportunities we offer, and are remunerated accordingly.

At Aramco, our people work on truly world-scale projects, supported by investment in capital and technology that is second to none. And because, as a global energy company, we are faced with addressing some of the world's biggest technical, logistical and environmental challenges, we invest heavily in talent development.

We have a proud history of educating and training our workforce over many decades. Employees at all levels are encouraged to improve their sector-specific knowledge and competencies through our workforce development programs - one of the largest in the world.
