Overview

We are seeking an experienced Metallurgical Engineer to join The Consulting Services Department (CSD). CSD provides Saudi Aramco (SA) with effective specialized engineering consultations, introduce viable technologies and maintains quality standards. The Materials Engineering Unit of CSD is responsible in providing technical support to plant operations, new projects activities, standardization, purchasing, manufacturers, and maintaining company standards up to date on issues related to metallurgical and welding. Position is located in a central engineering group responsible for providing operational support to upstream and downstream facilities including oil/gas wells, pipelines, gas plants, refineries, terminals and capital programs

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provide consultation to field operations and projects of SA upstream facilities, pipelines, refineries, gas plants and terminals including resolution of materials technical problems.
  • Participate in incident investigation studies
  • Conduct metallurgical failure analyses to determine root causes and recommend corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Review project design packages and provide material selection recommendations and materials related consultations based on standards and technical information.
  • Evaluate and introduce best practice and emerging technologies from all over the world to help the company achieve best in class positions in the oil business.
  • Initiate new initiatives, TIs, and ESA to explore or validate materials specification, overcome technical challenges and enhance final product quality.
  • Perform materials testing, evaluation and validation for verify materials compliance and suitability
  • Develop and maintain Saudi Aramco's engineering standards and design best practices to enhance company profitability, safety and productivity.
  • Active in developing/educating young Saudi Arab engineers and promoting engineering including teaching TSPA courses in materials Selection and failure Analysis
  • Deliver technical presentations and write papers for peer-reviewed journals on engineering studies and projects he has overseen.
  • Actively participate in work of Saudi Aramco technical societies and other international industry standards and specification such as ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code, and API, and participate on specialized committees within appropriate groups.
  • Carry out economic studies and cost analyses of particular importance in the field.

Minimum Requirements

  • A Bachelor degree in Metallurgy amd Materials Engineering. Must possess high academic achievement in a closely related discipline with preference for candidates with an advanced degree
  • At least 10 years' experience in materials engineering, fabrication, materials selection and failure analysis.
  • Ability to work in multidisciplinary, multicultural groups and be able to pursue work independently
  • General engineering consultancy experience and capability focusing on failure analysis, materials selection, equipment & piping fabrication, providing support to Saudi Aramco operations, capital programs and occasionally to Joint Venture operations.
  • Knowledge of refinery processes and gas plant operations
