Job scope (budget, management, specific criteria):

The primary role of the PMC Chief Operator is to provide the guidance to the MRC Board Operators & Field Operators of the assigned units to ensure the continuous production, processing and distribution of diversified petroleum, gas and chemical products meeting specified qualities and quantities within the designated operating conditions in a safe and efficient manner.  

He provides regular reports to the PMC Senior Operations Supervisor regarding the efficient performance of the Operations and Production of the units.

The PMC Senior Operations Specialist main responsibilities are to monitor, advise and assist MRC Board Operators & Field Operators in the below mentioned activities:

·   In constantly monitoring control panel, diagnoses abnormal situations, initiates operational adjustments and maintain a continuous check on the operating plants.

·   In taking reading of essential instruments to ensure that equipment is operated within the specified parameters and limits.

·   In optimizing unit operations to maximize valuable products and reduce losses.

·   In ensuring and maintaining maximum unit capacities of the assigned units as per company specifications.

·   In handling the emergency situations and re-establishing normal operations of the assigned units as quickly as possible.

·   In ensuring that product quality targets are met without compromising safety, environment and cost objectives.

·   In ensuring that there is optimum consumption of Catalysts, Chemicals, Power and utilities within the assigned units.

Typical background and experience required:

An individual aspiring to become PMC Senior Operations Specialist is a Professional with Bachelor’s Degree / Technical Diploma in Engineering status in the field.

The successful candidate shall demonstrate the following:

·         Track record of safe work performance.

·         A minimum of 10 to 15 years’ experience in the oil/gas industry, in an operating refinery.

·         Proven experience in supervising the Operating refinery units in PMC or Employer Organizations.

·         Proven competency in multi-disciplinary, complex industrial environments with supervisory, coordination and interpersonal skills.

·         Experience of VGO, FCC and PNU Production Unit Operations, Refining and/or Chemicals technologies.

·         Ability to prioritize workload, meet deadlines and work with minimum supervision when required and mentor less experienced team members.

·         Assists in training of Board and Field Operators and new joiners to safely and efficiently perform their work assignments in accordance with company’s targets.

The candidate should ideally also be able to demonstrate experience in one or more of the following services areas:

·         Refinery operations

·         Supervisory experience

·         Fluency in written and spoken English

·         Must be progress driven without compromising safety or quality standards

·         A Bachelor’s Degree / diploma in engineering degree from an accredited university
