Piping Stress Engineer

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Review work of Contractors to ensure compliance with codes, project specifications, procedures and quality requirements.
  • Monitor Contractor performance of stress activities and recommend actions when necessary.
  • Perform or verify stress analysis of critical piping for different condition such as thermal, seismic, wind etc.
  • Perform or verify fatigue analysis of piping system for applicable no of cycles, and LoF calculations for systems with AIV or FIV potential
  • Verify equipment nozzle loads are as per applicable standard, project and manufacturer criteria.
  • Coordination of requisitions and vendor selection for springs, cold supports, and other engineered supports.
  • Review of Technical Queries and Deviation Requests, and work with Client and other disciplines to develop response.
  • Ensure correct application of standard pipe supports by Contractors.
  • Ensure stress analysis is complete at scope interfaces.

 

Requirements:

 

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering and Chartered Engineer, or suitable equivalent.
  • Extensive experience and technical expertise in pipe stress and supports.
  • Experience of pipe stress requirements specific to petrochemical and polymer plants, and application of non-metallic materials.
  • Understanding of the application of Company procedures, and design guides.
  • Proficiency with Caesar II. Familiar with FEA and nozzle Pro.
  • Experience of 3D model viewing software such as SmartPlant Review or NavisWorks.
  • Specific knowledge of ASME B31.3 design and materials is essential, along with working knowledge of related standards including API 610, 661, 617, 650, 560.
  • Experience of working in a PMC role is preferred.

Assignment conditions

If you are successful Bechtel will organise your relocation and logistics (Indian visas, travel, and provision of accommodation in Mumbai)

If you are open to relocation: - We will provide accommodation for you whilst you are in country (single or accompanied by spouse).

If you prefer rotation: - Our single status rotational schedule is an option for you. This means that you would mobilise and spend 10 weeks working in country and then you would go home to UK for 2 weeks and so on for the project duration.
