Piping Materials Engineer (PMC)

Responsibilities:

  • Review work of Contractors to ensure compliance with project specifications, procedures and quality requirements.
  • Develop and maintain Piping Material Classes using Smartplant Reference Data (SRD)
  • Undertake and check related piping calculations including wall thickness, branch reinforcement, vacuum, line blank thickness etc.
  • Plan, coordinate and prepare requisitions, including Technical Bid Evaluations for all bulk piping components.
  • Review of vendor documents for all piping purchase orders.
  • Development of technical, design and purchasing specifications for all bulk piping components.
  • Development of specialty piping items as required.
  • Review of Technical Queries and Deviation Requests, and work with Client and other disciplines to develop response.
  • Coordination of piping materials technical detail for several Contractors.
  • Review of MSDs, P&IDs and inter-discipline coordination as required.

Requirements:

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering and Chartered Engineer, or suitable equivalent.
  • Extensive experience and technical expertise in piping materials and valves.
  • Experience of piping material requirements specific to petrochemical and polymer plants, and application of non-metallic materials.
  • Understanding of the application of Company procedures, and design guides.
  • Broad knowledge of the role of piping materials in procurement, delivery, fabrication and constructability.
  • Detailed knowledge of Piping Material Specification software SmartPlant Reference Data SRD etc..)
  • Specific knowledge of ASME B31.3 design and materials is essential.
  • Understanding of industry or local regulatory codes and standards including ASME, BIS, API, AWWA, ASTM and MSS.
  • Experience of working in a PMC role is preferred.

Assignment conditions

If you are successful Bechtel will organise your relocation and logistics (Indian visas, travel, and provision of accommodation in Mumbai)

If you are open to relocation: - We will provide accommodation for you whilst you are in country (single or accompanied by spouse).

If you prefer rotation: - Our single status rotational schedule is an option for you. This means that you would mobilise and spend 10 weeks working in country and then you would go home to UK for 2 weeks and so on for the project duration.
