Oceaneering Integrity Management and Digital Solutions (IMDS) is a global leader in providing integrity engineering, advanced inspection and inspection management solutions to the Oil and Gas and Energy sectors. Due to continued growth, the Vibration Department currently has a vacancy for a Principal Consultant Engineer to join the team.

Duties & Responsibilities

The Oceaneering Vibration Group provides technical leadership and expertise in the field of vibration engineering and to clients in the oil and gas and energy sectors. The Principal Consultant Engineer will be a key member of the team, providing innovative solutions to complex problems and helping to ensure the safe and reliable operation of critical equipment.

The team is responsible for delivering and developing key capabilities including:

• Energy Institute pipework vibration assessments including FIT, AIV and Pulsation

• Site-based measurement surveys on pipework and structures

• Integrity assessments using standards including BS7608, BS7910 and API579

• Short- and long-term monitoring systems installed on structures, pipework, and machinery

• Advanced site testing techniques (e.g., modal analysis)

• FE analysis of pipework and structures

The Principal Consultant Engineer is a key role within the team, responsible for delivery and management of complex projects and for providing technical leadership across project and development activities. Key responsibilities include:

• Designing and implementing vibration mitigation strategies and solutions to tackle unique problems

• Presenting clear and concise technical advice to clients

• Mentoring junior engineers and reviewing / approving technical output

The Principal Consultant Engineer will lead the team and be a highly skilled and experienced engineer with a strong understanding of vibration theory and principles. The engineer will have extensive experience with assessing the risk of failure of components associated with piping systems and structures and will have expert knowledge of industry standards and guidelines including the Energy Institute AVIFF guidelines, BS7608, BS7910 and API579. They will communicate effectively with clients and other engineers and will be able to prepare clear and concise technical reports.

Qualifications

The role would suit candidates with the following qualifications, skills and experiences:

• BEng / Meng in Mechanical Engineering or related degree

• 15+ years of experience in the Oil and Gas or Energy sectors

• Detailed understanding of vibration theory, mechanical fatigue, and integrity assessments of static equipment

• Experience in vibration measurement and analysis

• Experience managing engineering projects from a technical and commercial perspective

• Experience using advanced analytical methods such as FE modelling may be an advantage but is not essential
