Accounting Specialist
This position requires a candidate with strong written/verbal communication skills in addition to extensive researching and problem-solving abilities. The primary responsibilities include escheat filing, perform monthly AP accounts reconciliation and analysis, research and process returned/outstanding checks. Candidate will be responsible for maintaining relationships with states, vendors, as well as individuals within the organization.

Position Responsibilities:
• Research, upload returned/outstanding checks to Teamsite and update status.
• Run outstanding checks quarterly and research the checks using Bank Websites to verify if checks have been cleared or not.
• Confirm/Follow up with check requesters on whether returned/outstanding checks should be reissued/canceled/canceled move to escheat.
• Upload Bank Statements to Team Site.
• Prepare and mail courtesy letters for outstanding checks. If no response, cancels the checks and place invoices on escheat hold.
• Create Credit Memos for outstanding checks to offset original invoice coding and transfer the invoice liability to an escheat account.
• Run suspense reports from SAP and prepare the Land Admin Review reports for Land Analyst to review.
• Generate and mail due diligence letters to owners/vendors.
• Prepare and submit escheat reports to the states’ websites according to states’ deadlines.
• Prepare check requests and special handling of escheat payments to states timely.
• Files the escheat paperwork in accordance to states requirements.
• Submit Holders’ claims to recoup escheat payments from the states.
• Prepare monthly AP accounts recon and analysis and resolve the variances.
• Work on Special Projects when needed.
• Assist IT and direct supervisor on systems and applications upgrades.
• Maintain familiarity and adherence to company and department policies and procedures.
• Maintain desk manuals.

Required Qualifications:
• Minimum two years’ experiences in Business, Accounting, or Finance
• High School diploma or equivalent
• Ability to perform in a fast paced, high-volume environment with a positive attitude and exceptional time management skills.
• Strong professional written and verbal communication skills
• Strong Research and Problem-Solving Skills
• Strong organizational and attention to detail skills
• Ability to work independently with little supervision.
• Intermediate or advance Excel skills
• Ability to evaluate and analyze areas for improvement and streamline the processes.

Preferred Qualifications:
• An associate degree
• SAP experience
