Process Engineering Manager opportunity with a leading Downstream Operator in Oman.


Job purpose 

Manage the development, implementation and continuous improvement of process engineering activities through (1) Leading the assessment and resolution of complex engineering process issues (2) Coordinate team and technical resources to ensure that Management process engineering  Services meets company strategy and performance goals, and (3) Promote and manage the development, implementation and continuous improvement of engineering process related to projects and operational activities  providing  a safe working environment



Education Requirements

Minimum Qualifications for this position is Degree Engineer in Chemical Engineering or similar.


Background & Experience

" +10 years of total experience within the Oil & Gas / Refinery / Petrochemical industry, with a minimum of 7 years of relevant  experience in a similar role

" Good knowledge of modern Operation technologies & Planning techniques  

" Sound judgment in technical matters with good skills in engineering field. 

" Experience in Risk Assessments, HAZOPS & Safety.

" Familiar with techniques for ensuring data integrity with various integration of information/ reports 

Knowledge of maintenance best practices

Main tasks and responsibilities 

" Develop and execute the Process Engineering long-term strategic plan in alignment with the function and organisation strategies. 

" Develop Process Optimization Services business plans to ensure the achievement of function and organisation financial and strategic objectives.

" Develop short- and long-term assets improvement plants with support from engineering and projects to improve reliability and profitability of the plants  

" Provide performance reports of plants, on plant utilization and availability, and systems regularly to senior management and internal clients like corporate planning and finance in order to be aware of performance and allow management to take proactive and prompt decisions  

" Ensuring planned engineering (process) progress with respect to the engineering deliverables for Tenders (as required) and awarded Projects, process engineering planning & scheduling, preparation of progress reports, manpower & resource forecasts, time schedules of engineers, utilization of resources effectively & efficiently. 

" Assure proper design of processes by considering market dynamics in order to improve yields, margins and profitability including the coordination of performing process simulations, design calculations, Process Optimization, sizing & selection of equipment, etc. for Tenders (as required) and for awarded Projects. Review of Clients tender documents, specifications, datasheets, verification of FEED design & calculations. 

" Manage process technology support to internal clients (operations, engineering, corporate planning and OMT mgmt.) to reduce operational cost of the refinery using optimization tools and solving technical problems to improve availability of plants and to recommend purchases of catalysts and chemicals 

" Coordinate integrated performance reports of plants, on plant utilization and availability, and systems regularly to senior management and internal clients like corporate planning and finance in order to be aware of performance and allow management to take proactive and prompt decisions  

" To ensure proper division of work & responsibility among the process engineering teams, providing proper guidance & integration of work done, ensuring good, positive & healthy working nature among the team of engineers to ensure optimum productivity & efficiency. 

Supervise and assure the process of preparation & Issue of RFQ's, evaluation of vendor's quotations, clarifications, Technical Bid Analysis and all the process associated.
