The Job

Senior Project Manager, E&C. Southern Water, Falmer, East Sussex.


Salary Range: £60,000 - £70,000 depending upon experience + £400 Monthly company car allowance.

Southern Water provide services to more than 4.6 million customers across Sussex, Kent, Hampshire and the Isle of Wight. We are currently recruiting for a Senior Project Manager to join Engineering & Construction, managing the delivery of projects within the Water for Life: Hampshire Programme. The role will be based in Falmer, East Sussex (currently remote working due to Covid 19 restrictions).

The individual we are looking for needs to have extensive project management experience at a senior level and experience in managing complex civil engineering / infrastructure projects. The role will be integral in delivering the step change in performance and efficiency that is required within the business, and as such, you will need to have a good understanding of delivery management and the ability to problem solve and facilitate meetings to achieve consensus to maintain the programme, cost and quality.

Scope of role:

You will be responsible for the delivery of a number of high profile capital projects, and the matrix management of multidisciplinary delivery teams. The team will comprise of both internal and external parties. You will be accountable for forecasting, programme update and reporting of projects / programmes within your control.

Working with the Senior Project Manager and Programme Sponsor to provide clarity of delivery timescales and simplify programme complexities to allow the business to make informed decisions on investment to reduce business risk.

Stakeholder management is key to this role. You will be responsible for liaising with important internal stakeholders such as Portfolio & Programme Sponsors and Senior Management as well as external stakeholders such as members of the public, Councillors and other public authority representatives.

Experience and Qualifications:

Experienced Civil Engineer or Project Management professional, preferably Chartered, (CEng or APM) or equivalent. Candidates who are close to achieving chartered status will be considered.

You will also be required to have extensive Senior Project Management experience within the Water Industry or within Civil Engineering. Infrastructure (water utility sector) experience is preferred.
