Job Description
Agilent is in a period of growth, and we are seeking an experienced Project Controls Specialist with operations accounting professional to join our Nucleic Acid Solutions Division (NASD). Agilent NASD is a Contract Manufacturer of highly complex Oligonucleotide Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients. We supply Life Sciences Organizations with their Active Ingredients.
Guidance and direction for the role will be supported by our Finance Controller, but this position will be responsible for operational budgets and project budgets for our Boulder & Frederick, Colorado sites. This position will ensure that capital project tasks are delivered and executed with accuracy and timeliness. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate excellent organization skills, be a self-starter comfortable with ambiguity, with strong attention to detail, have a desire to learn processes and improve processes and is able to uphold the Agilent’s company values. This position will report directly to the Director of Capital Projects (Engineering) and work closely with existing onsite accountings professional to understand Agilent systems and policy.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include:
• Monitoring the progress of projects and operations budgets, investigating variances, approving expenses and ensuring that all forecast budgets, accruals, invoices are submitted on time.
• Actively involved with Project Management/Engineering teams to ensure they have visibility to primary project metrics
• Ensure existing Project Accounting and all Company Policies and Procedures are effectively communicated and enforced.
• Ensuring compliance with appropriate GAAP and internal controls over financial reporting
• Actively monitor projects from a risk management perspective and elevate as needed
• Develop, implement and improve accounting processes and procedures with other project and operations accounting partners to better support teams.
• Performing the month-end financial accounting close within tight deadline
• Monitor all subcontractor and vendors contracts and work as contact point for external and internal resource providers.
• Support in quarterly reviews and annual audits.
Qualifications
Qualification
• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, or Engineering is preferred.
• Minimum of eight (8) years experience in projects finance/accounting or a related office field.
• Working knowledge of project contracts and change order documents
• Proficiency with Excel (pivot tables & v-look ups), PC proficiency is required.
• Exposure to ERP systems or comparable business software, SAP experience is a plus.
• Ability to use independent, ethical judgment to impart confidential information.
• Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong motivation and time management skills. Demonstrated self-motivation.
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, multitask.
• Demonstrated results-oriented and deadline-driven attitude. Strong attention to detail.
• Willingness to establish and maintain effective internal/external professional
relationships.
• Demonstrated excellent customer service skills, friendly, courteous, and positive in
nature
• Experience working in a high tech start up or Life sciences/Pharma company or fortune 500 tech company is desired.
