The Manufacturing Engineer will work in assigned areas in lean processes and problem solving to transform operations to JIT Manufacturing and improve KPI’s (Key Performance Indicators).  This will be done through a combination of Continuous Improvement efforts and project work.  The Manufacturing Engineer will facilitate and lead the Continuous Improvement/Kaizen events, ensuring solid pre-work, execution, follow up/sustainment, and visual management for each event.  This position will also be assigned project work in various Assembly Operations.  A3 methodology will be used to define, track, and report on each project.  This position reports to the Manager- Vista Operations.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Drive Continuous Improvement activities including quality improvement, on-time shipping performance, cycle time reduction, inventory reduction, and direct labor reduction
  • Establish and maintain relevant visual measurements throughout various processes
  • Facilitate and lead Kaizen events and longer-term assembly projects
  • Work closely with Team Members and Leadership to ensure the changes implemented in the process are sustained
  • Design and implement cell layouts for one-piece-flow and waste elimination
  • Combine operations for improved flow
  • Design and implement pull systems, kitting, and line-side inventory systems to support one-piece-flow and OTD

To select this job as one of interest to you, at a minimum, you must have the following:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering or equivalent
  • Demonstrated experience leading and facilitating Continuous Improvement initiatives/events
  • Extensive knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and the tools associated with it
  • Demonstrated track record of success in transforming operations and improving metrics
  • Demonstrated ability to influence others at all levels of the organization
  • PC/programming skills:
  • Advanced MS Office 365 Skills
    • MS Excel - Ability to create pivot tables and charts to track performance and analyze the completion of key goals. Good understanding of how to connect to external data to combine multiple data sources.
    • MS Access experience - ability to create Access queries and reports.
  • SharePoint Online Skills : Ability to create/edit libraries, lists, metadata and site pages.
  • Basic programming experience with understanding of writing conditional statements and initializing / setting variables (preferred)
    • MS Power Automate: Flows - experience a plus with the ability to create SharePoint workflows.
    • Basic html/CSS or JavaScript experience a plus.

Relevant Experience Required: Successful implementation of Continuous Improvement principles in a manufacturing and office environment


  • Standing: Some tasks are performed in a standing position.
  • Lifting: Occasionally lifting of items ranging in weight from 5 lbs. to 40 lbs.
  • Walking: Moderate walking of distances up to 1 mile around the S&C Campus.
  • Carrying: Occasionally carrying of items ranging in weight from 5 lbs. to 25 lbs.
  • Pushing: Occasional use of an electric hand truck and pushing to move parts a moderate distance.
  • Pulling: Occasional use of an electric hand truck and pulling to move parts a moderate distance.
  • Bending: Occasionally bending and crouching required to perform a variety of tasks.
  • Reaching: Continuous full range of motion from above the shoulders to below the knees to reach for items.
  • Handling: Continuous handling of parts and tools to perform a variety of tasks.
  • Environment: Working environment that of a manufacturing/fabrication company
