The Compliance Engineer is responsible for providing leadership and operational support to the business wide environmental compliance program. Create procedures and guidelines to ensure governmental and industrial regulations related to environmental laws are met by our products in the country of production and all destination countries.  Ensure proper reporting, record keeping mechanisms, and product reviews are in place including take-back programs.

  • Work with Emerson Legal, Advance Design Center and appropriate external organizations to maintain expertise in environmental compliance requirements.
  • Assess the possible impact of any environmental compliance changes on our business.
  • Respond to supplier and customer requests for compliance-related customer requests on Reach, RoHS, and other legislations.
  • Develop Extended Producer Responsibilities programs including but not limited to applicability analysis, registration, and reporting.
  • Coordinate global resources to execute programs to ensure compliance.
  • Ensure organizational compliance to material and product declarations.
  • Provide consultation to new product development regarding environmental considerations in design.
  • Assist with part qualification to ensure coverage of relevant parts in accordance with compliance and business requirements.
  • Validates the quality and accuracy of material and substance composition data provided by suppliers and external organizations.
  • Assist external organizations with Bill of Materials analysis and assess compliance of products against regulatory directives and requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Environmental Science, Engineering, or Material Engineering.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in global environmental compliance legislation such as RoHS, REACH, SCIP, Batteries, Packaging, EPR (WEEE, Packaging, Batteries, Recovery, Recycling, and Disposal), Conflict Minerals, EcoDesign, Prop 65, TSCA or other applicable, regional, and local regulations.
  • Familiarity with pertinent environmental compliance software tools.
  • Project Management skills.
  • Experience with regulators and relief valves.
  • Advanced english
