Procurement Specialist

NES Fircroft Kingston upon Hull Full-Time
£40,000 - £60,000/Year
NES Fircroft is recruiting a Procurement Specialist on behalf of a Major Chemical Manufacturer based at Saltend, Hull. This is a temporary contract for 6-9 months, Monday to Friday on site. Minimum 37.5hrs per week. 

Overview 
The Procurement Specialist will be required to ensure the client's assets have the correct goods and services available to be able to meet the site production plans (including TAR and Maintenance) and CAPEX portfolio supplied at the optimal value.

Key Responsibilities: 
  • Accountability for the strategic development, negotiation, delivery and ongoing management of key third party goods and services. 
  • Commercial management of key site agreements. 
  • Ensure that security of supply for goods and services are maintained safely, the the correct technical specification and on schedule to meet operational requirements.
  • Provide expert advice on procurement related risks, including depth market knowledge both commercial and technical to all of the Client's procurement customers. 
  • Lead negotiations with suppliers to secure best commercial terms to the business
  • Identify and recommend new suppliers to the business that can offer a commercial or technical advantage to mitigate project or asset schedule risks. 
Qualifications or Required Experience: 

  • MCIPS qualified preferred or equivalent chartered membership or Quantity Surveying qualifications. 
  • Previous procurement or quantity surveyor experience in large complex manufacturing environment, dealing with contract negotiation and management. 
  • Strong IT skills including Excel, Word, SAP & Database analysis would be an advantage. 
  • Identification of Total Cost of Ownership 
  • Knowledge and understanding of NAECI ("the blue book")
  • Deep understanding of cost drivers on contracts in order to demonstrate transparency and overall value. 
  • Expert, advanced negotiation skills and techniques. 
  • Sound understanding of site policies, safety standards and legislation is an advantage.
