Element Environmental Laboratory has an exciting opportunity for a Business Development Manager with the Deeside Laboratory. You will be responsible for sourcing new prospects, assessing their requirements, building relationships and turning the prospects into new clients.  Possessing an entrepreneurial spirit you will be driven by the sales strategy and support the global sales growth for the entire laboratory's services.  This is an excellent opportunity to work with a marketing leading environmental laboratory.

Element Deeside is the largest analytical chemistry laboratory within the Element Group and the market leading UK laboratory undertaking the testing of soils, waters, wastes, oils, NAPLs, ambient air, soil vapours and gases from all over the world.  The laboratory undertakes high volume routine analysis as well as offering bespoke method development, technical support and hydrocarbon forensic interpretations to enhance the support we can deliver.  The laboratory has an international reputation for service excellence and supports clients that require a higher level of technical expertise, reliability in data quality and seamless project management from sample collection to timely delivery of data in the format of choice.


  • Source and assess potential clients to support the sales strategy
  • Identify current and future client service requirements through discussions with clients/prospects
  • Identify opportunities early in the sales cycle to ensure maximum share of wallet for Element
  • Produce quotations and tenders to meet the prospects/clients requirements
  • Assist in the development and production of marketing materials
  • Actively participate in regular pipeline reviews, ensuring all CRM records are up to date and critical success factors are identified for key opportunities

Skills / Qualifications

  • Demonstrable success in a previous sales role
  • Chemistry or science based degree, or an environmental laboratory background
  • A keenness to learn and progress
  • Experience with different cultures advantageous
  • Proficient in Microsoft Applications
  • Availability, flexibility, and maturity to represent the company at a broad range of events
  • Well-developed oral and written communication skills to meet a variety of communication needs
  • Excellent interpersonal skills that foster communication and mutual respect
  • Ability to travel up to 60% of the time; overnight and foreign travel may be required
