The Senior Accountant, Corporate Accounting is primarily responsible for debt, equity, and legal financial reporting, month-end closing, income statement and balance sheet analysis, forecasting, and special projects. The role will collaborate with various groups in the Finance and Legal organizations, such as Technical Accounting, Tax, Accounts Payable, Shared Services Accounting, Treasury, Legal, and FP&A to complete Corporate Accounting responsibilities.


A successful candidate will have excellent knowledge of accounting rules and procedures including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), and extensive experience with month-end close processes, as well as hands on experience with Oracle or similar software. The candidate should demonstrate an ability to work independently on detailed analytics and reconciliations.


  • Prepare and review debt, equity, and legal journal entries and invoices in accordance with GAAP.
  • Reconcile, analyze, and review general ledger accounts to ensure accuracy and validity of accounting transactions and the Company’s books and records.
  • Create technical accounting memos to document the accounting treatment for significant and unique transactions.
  • Develop interdepartmental relationships to ensure positive and successful interactions to complete responsibilities.
  • Timely preparation of management reports and other ad-hoc reports.
  • Prepare forecasts and analyze actual/forecast variances.
  • Collaborate with other groups within the Finance and Legal organizations.
  • Adhere to SOX internal control requirements.
  • Respond to inquiries from external and internal auditors.
  • Perform additional responsibilities or special projects as assigned.


  • Education and Certifications: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting is required, active CPA or currently pursuing certification is highly preferred.
  • Experience:  3+ years of applicable experience in Public, Corporate Accounting or progressive accounting experience is required.  Previous experience with Oracle and Hyperion Financial Management (HFM) is highly preferred.
  • Skills:
    • Strong interpersonal skills; ability to thrive in a dynamic and fast-paced environment
    • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to work with all levels of management and employees.
    • Proven experience in driving process improvement
    • Proficient in Microsoft office products including Excel (vlookup and pivot tables)
    • Effective time management skills and detail oriented
    • Ability to think critically and independently
    • Organized and able to manage multiple activities and programs timely and with a high degree of accuracy
    • Must be able to work under deadline pressure, and must be willing to work outside of normal office hours

Ability to multi-task and function in a highly dynamic atmosphere; must exercise discretion independently.


  • Job is performed in a typical office environment, but is subject to time pressures and constraints, and is often dependent on input from others. 
  • Occasionally, work may be performed from home, after normal work hours or on weekends.
  • May be required to work overtime.
  • Subject to drug and alcohol testing, per applicable federal regulations or as required by Cheniere.
