We are building VOXEL – an ecosystem of products, applications, training programmes and data policy that operate across the full mining value chain to provide a game-changing improvement in access to knowledge, decision-making and performance of the business.   In developing our products, we have a blended leadership team made up of the Product Manager, Technical Product Owner and User Experience Designer, with a joint objective to work out solutions to hard business problems and deliver great products.  This approach is critical to our success in ensuring seamless integration of source systems and data flows across VOXEL products, maximizing insights and enabling better decision making.

Job Description

Own the technical aspects of product development to provide ongoing alignment between product management, customers’ requirements and the technical side of product development.  


  • Act as the primary liaison between engineering, product management and the customers to build compliant VOXEL Platform products. 
  • Reconcile the customer’s desires with the technological capabilities of the product and VOXEL Platform.  This includes acting as the customer advocate responsible for facilitating requirements gathering to thoroughly understand their needs, explain jargon and provide solutions to technical problems.  
  • Participate in the development of critical IP or technical design constraints. 
  • Consolidate technical work intentions and create a technical backlog across multiple teams.  Arrange the technical backlog items systematically in a technical flow with appropriate prioritization.
  • Provide technical advice to the development teams to bridge the gap between the development team and the customer’s needs/ product roadmap. 
  • Take part in the Sprint regular inspection, fix issues and inform its progress to customers.
  • Perform gap analysis (as is functionality versus to be functionality) and ensure provision of realistic information so that customers are aware of what a product can and can’t do.
  • Work with the Product Manager and User Experience Designer to appropriately capture feature requests, use cases, POC requests and to organize them into properly prioritized user stories and epic backlogs. 
  • Work with the Product Manager to fine tune the product roadmap and priorities for product features so as to ensure alignment with the technical requirements of the development process and the customer’s needs.
  • Interpret technical requirements and integrate them into the product backlog via the Product Manager. 


  • Required: Bachelor’s Degree Informatics, Applied mathematics and statistics, Computer Science/Engineering/Information Technology, Geosciences 
  • Desirable:  Master’s Degree in Data Science or Computer Science

Role-specific knowledge

  • Understanding of the company’s technology (e.g., VOXEL Platform), to enable effective technical guidance and communications.
  • Deep knowledge and experience in engineering and software development and the product development lifecycle and technical product development. 
  • Proven ability to build cloud-based, front and backend applications using modern technologies.  Backend API and services on Microsoft Azure is a plus.
  • Ability to understand and liaise with a Product Manager to articulate application, analytics, and data management requirements for the engineering team's product development
  • Possess strong architect skills to guide product development team, capture and record sound NFRs covering data, shaping integration interface in collaboration with the data teams
  • Recognizes and accepts the need to put the overall business needs ahead of their own and can deal with the internal conflict/stress that may generate

  • Proficient: Understanding of API driven service integration
  • Proficient:  React or other UI Frameworks
