Mechanical Engineer Co-Op

Grede is seeking highly motivated, innovative, and inspired individuals. Grede’s co-op program allows students to gain on-the-job experience in an environment outside of the classroom. This is an opportunity for students to apply their knowledge, enhance their critical thinking, and test drive their careers.
The assignments are project oriented, meaningful to the department and company, allowing co-ops to take responsibility for a major task, and gain experience.
Following graduation, successful co-ops may have opportunities to join the Grede Grads rotational program or be considered for direct hire opportunities.
Responsibilities:
Provide mechanical engineering support for both new product development activities as well as factory support of existing products
Translate product requirements into a mechanical specification and test plan to be used for development
Execute verification testing as defined by the mechanical specification and test plan
Conduct design analysis and testing, both structural and thermal, to prove design will meet customer requirements
Responsible for understanding customer needs, generating test procedures and finally executing the test
Generate and/or process engineering change orders (ECO’s) as required
Work directly with mechanical designers on CAD models and part documentation
Perform any and all other job related tasks as assigned
Experience and Educational Requirements
Must be currently enrolled in an accredited university or college.
Pursuit of a Bachelor's degree in one of the following areas or similar field of study: Mechanical Engineering.
Able to work fulltime, 40 hours per week.
Must know and readily understand cast alloys and understand microstructure of castings.
Must have the ability to analyze data, communicate both verbally and in written formats and manage a variety of tasks at one time.
Must keep up to date with field and improving technology.
