Are you a registered nurse with strong interpersonal skills and industry experience in a critical care or emergency room setting? In this casual position, you will assure the quality, integrity, and value of health services while collaborating with an interdisciplinary team of occupational health and safety professionals.  

You will use your expertise to:

  • Execute wellness strategies and initiatives
  • Complete new hire medicals
  • Perform health surveillance programs including health evaluations for hearing and vision
  • Provide first aid assessment and treatment of occupational and non-occupational illness and injury
  • Support medical emergency-related incidents in an ever-changing work environment
  • Support the alcohol and drug (A&D) program where required
  • Collect and analyze comprehensive medical information and confidential medical records
  • Support disability case management as required and facilitate return to work programs while liaising and collaborating with a broad range of stakeholders

We’d like to review your application if you have…

Must-haves (minimum requirements):

  • One or more years of occupational health experience in heavy industry with critical care/emergency response
  • Post-secondary education in nursing
  • International trauma life support certification (ITLS)
  • License to practice in Alberta and current registration with College and Association of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CARNA)
  • Spirometry and audiometry certification
  • Exceptional first aid proficiency with an ability to remain calm and composed in emergency situations
  • Experience in health surveillance testing and programs, as well as conducting new hire medicals
  • A valid driver’s license and a clean driving record
  • A deep understanding of health and wellness programs, including support of medical surveillance and wellness programs
  • Strong collaboration and interpersonal skills in order to achieve the best results and deliver the most value
  • The ability to work independently with minimal supervision

Preference for:

  • Occupational nurse certification
  • Computer knowledge and experience with SAP and Cority

Where you’ll be working, your work schedule, and other important information:

  • You will work out of our Edmonton refinery in Sherwood Park, located at 801 Petroleum Way
  • This is a casual position; hours may be up to 40 hours per week depending on operational needs
