Overview The Fuels Distribution System Mechanic (FDSM) is responsible for performing preventative and operator maintenance and repair of fuel distribution systems and equipment as well as providing trouble call support IAW all applicable federal, local, state regulations, Air Force Instruction, Technical Orders and policy directives. Works with Fuel Systems Controller (FSC), Fuel Expediters, Fuel Specialists, and Fuel Hydrant System Operators to provide safe, efficient, accurate and environmentally responsible services and products. Subject to CBA requirements. Responsibilities This position description is subject to change at any time as needed to meet the requirements of the program or company. Major Job Activities: Shall provide maintenance actions to include providing parts, installing, programming, calibrating, troubleshooting, testing, and repairing all components of Automated Fuel Handling Equipment (AFHE) operational and tertiary systems. Tasks include use of recurring scheduled preventive maintenance actions and repair actions while managing resulting hazardous material and waste and ensuring proper environmental compliance in the handling and disposal of hazardous material and waste. Maintenance actions will exclude major overhauls that require system removal and that are accomplished by a repair depot. Shall provide all care, maintenance, and inspection; record keeping; analysis of records to correct non-optimal practices and conditions; issuance of reports to the COR and Fuels Management Flight (FMF); monitoring warranties; periodic operation and inspection of idle equipment; preservation, cleaning, lubrication, and adjustment of equipment as well as most field intermediate-level maintenance actions. Shall perform periodic systems maintenance with no more than two (2) validated discrepancies in scheduled PM tasks or reports per month. Preventive Maintenance (PM) includes the testing, verification, inspection, inventory, and drawing creation for ATG, ELD, IAS, OPE, HFAM and AFSS systems, and communication and power devices for the site. Shall respond to trouble calls following the prioritization guidelines and provide technical expertise for automated fuel handling equipment using the latest version of AFSS Fuel Master Units manuals. Shall maintain distributed digital control systems with real-time data acquisition/control and inventory management. Responsible for proper utilization and safeguarding of all property provided for contractor use (e.g., to include government facilities, equipment and tools). Shall complete Syntech Fuel Master training course within 30 days of employment. Ensure facilities are clean, free from debris, pests and fire hazards. Shall comply with all safety rules, regulations, and laws IAW current OSHSA, government, installation and local agency standards. Performs internal quality control checks and self-performance audits. Responsible for precise execution of company time reporting procedures and accurate completion of timesheet. Performs other duties as assigned. Material & Equipment Directly Used: Personal computer, MS Office, and other general office equipment, as well as craftsman tools, shop tools, and specialized fuels distribution, inspection, and maintenance equipment. Physical Activities: Medium physical work. Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for sedentary work and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated for light work. Work may require heavy lifting, stooping, climbing, prolonged standing, prolonged sitting, and working with or in areas where a potential could exist for exposure to physical, chemical, or biological agents. Employee use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required for some situations. PPE includes, but is not limited to, head, foot, torso, respiratory, vision, and hearing protective devices. Must comply with all Fire and Safety Regulations and post policies. Qualifications Education / Certifications: • High school diploma or equivalent, related Vocational or Associate degree preferred. • Must have completed a basic liquid fuel systems maintenance course. • Must successfully complete training on CBRN (chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear) defense training. • Training includes the successful fit testing of DoD provided protective gear. • Must be capable of obtaining a flight line driver’s license. • U.S. citizenship is required. • Active Secret Clearance. Experience / Skills: • A minimum of three (3) years’ of experience with bulk fuels operations, fuel product accounting, automation of valves, fuel transfer pumps, tank gauging, metering systems, pipeline instrumentation, operations control centers and Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition systems.
