This role is responsible for loading, unloading, and moving materials within or near plant, yard, or work site by performing the following duties:

  • Reads Work Order or follows oral instructions to ascertain materials or containers to be moved/delivered.
  • Loads and unloads materials onto or from pallets, trays, racks, and shelves by hand and by forklift.
  • Conveys materials from storage or work sites to designated area.
  • Counts, weighs, and records number of units of materials moved or handled.
  • Attaches identifying tags or labels to materials or marks information on pallets, cases, bales, or other containers to ensure no product is located within the facility that is not properly identified.
  • Operates industrial fork truck or electric hoist to assist in loading or moving materials and products.
  • Reviews final product before delivering to inventory or shipping.
  • Reviews Work Orders to ensure all transactions are completed without errors.
  • Empties chip bins and trash containers as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be certified to operate a forklift.

FACILITY/GROUP SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Normal work hours are Monday through Thursday from 5:00am to 3:30pm
  • Must be able to work overtime and shift work as required.

PHYSICAL/NON-PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or control; talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.  
  • The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. 
  • Employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to hot, cold, wet and/or humid conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
