If you are an Engineering professional looking for an opportunity to grow, Emerson has an exciting opportunity for you!  Based in our Cudahy, WI location, you will be part of a multidisciplinary team consisting of mechanical, electrical and PLC engineers as well as project managers, designers, sales, application engineers and new product development on our Engineered to Order and Configure to Order businesses. You will report to the the Electrical Engineering Team Leader. You will have a variety of responsibilities that include working through technical control details, designing control circuits, sizing conductors, overcurrent protection and components, drawing schematics and panel layout in AutoCAD Electric or EPLAN, creating work standards, working with the internal team, vendors and contractors on electrical design of equipment and systems. 
 
Success in this position requires the candidate to work effectively in both a collaborative and independent environment. You must be safety conscious, have good communication skills as you will work internally and externally with customers. High attention to detail is critical and you must have a strong motivation for delivering project objectives. 

AS AN ELECTRICAL ENGINEER, YOU WILL: 
  • Be a self-starter, work autonomously, see projects through on time and first time right 

  • Have a firm understanding of electrical controls and logic 

  • Possess knowledge of and experience with power and motor control circuits, motors, motor starters and VFDs 

  • Support Vilter's PLC controls platform

  • Support team on electrical system product improvements and standards 

  • Manage customer electrical equipment projects 

  • Serve as subject matter expert and work directly with customers to troubleshoot issues and provide product training 

  • Have a firm understanding of how to read and interpret electrical schematics as well as piping and instrumentation drawings 

  • Have a firm understanding of NFPA 70 National Electric Code, NFPA 79 and UL 508A, staying up to date on industry standards and trends 

  • Have experience and proficiency with AutoCAD Electrical and/or EPLAN engineering tools

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:

  •  Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering

  • Three (3 ) years of related experience

  • Able to understand and solve a wide variety of technical problems with little guidance.

  • Able to communicate technical concepts clearly and concisely in writing and other presentation formats.

  • Must be a team player, willing to learn from experienced staff and capable of introducing positive changes.

  • Ability to travel 10-15% of the time.

  • Legal authorization to work in the United States - Sponsorship will not be provided for this role.

 PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:  

  • Masters in Electrical Engineering

  • Seven (7) years of related experience

  • Working experience using ePlan design software

  • PLC programming experience

  • Electrical field experience either troubleshooting or installation
