Superior is currently seeking a Tax Financial Analyst to join our team in Houston, TX.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

This position will be responsible for, but not limited to, Income Tax Accounting and assistance with preparation of Quarterly and Annual Tax Provisions, including:

  • Calculation and reconciliation of current and deferred tax liabilities and receivables,
  • Account reconciliation of effective tax rate,
  • Preparation and review of permanent and temporary book-tax differences, including PP&E differences such as depreciation, disposals, involuntary conversions,
  • Assistance with calculation of tax reserves,
  • Assistance with true-up of return to accrual differences,
  • Maintaining appropriate internal controls to address accuracy and security of data, and
  • Interfacing with internal finance personnel, consultants and external auditors.

       Preparation and/or review of federal and state income tax returns including:

  • Fixed assets – calculation and analysis of depreciation, acquisitions and dispositions
  • Review mapping and loading trial balances for multiple domestic entities into tax software,
  • Calculation and review of book-tax differences,
  • Assist with compilation of carryforward information for losses and credits, including IRC Section 382 limitations,
  • Calculation and/or review of adjustments for alternative minimum tax,
  • Assist with reporting forms for foreign entities,
  • Preparation of form 5471, form 8858 and CBC reporting.
  • Assist with processing the Federal 1120 for eFiling
  • Calculation/preparation of federal tax estimates on a quarterly and annual basis,
  • Preparation/review of state income tax returns, including combined or unitary returns,
  • Calculation/review of state-federal taxable income adjustments,
  • Calculation/review of allocable/non-business income attributed directly to states,
  • Assist with compilation of state loss and credit carryforwards,
  • Calculation/review of apportionment factors,
  • Calculation/preparation/review of state tax estimates on a quarterly and annual basis.
  • Preparation of annual reports as needed (shared duty with Legal Department)
  • Assist with monitoring and implementing legislative and administrative changes in tax law
  • Assist with implementation of tax strategies for business reorganizations (acquisitions, dispositions, spin-offs, etc.)
  • Tax Controversy – preparing for tax examinations and responding to notices from federal and state and local tax authorities

Minimum Requirements 

  • 3+ years of experience with tax compliance and provision in a public accounting firm or large multinational corporation
  • Experience with Corptax compliance and provision software preferred
  • Experience with Hyperion, Sage FAS, and D365 preferred
  • Oil & Gas industry experience preferred 


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or similar
  • Master of Accounting or Taxation preferred
  • CPA required
