Job Summary

Participate in the review, development and definition of the end to end planning processes. These processes include the following activities:
• Define Types of Annual Studies Needed to perform Proactive planning analyses.
• Develop a plan and roadmap that provides needed capabilities to perform proactive distribution network planning on a 5-yr cycle (N-1, capacity, reliability, resiliency, automation, NWAs etc.)
• Definition of process, scope and criteria for distribution Planning studies including voltage, thermal, N-1, power factor assessments, etc.
• Review, revise and standardize the study scope, criteria and technical approval process for interconnection planning studies (load, DER).
• Review organizational roles and responsibilities of the organization within the investment process.
• Review and improve the existing investment planning prioritization quantitative methodology
• Implementation of a reliability impact and optimization calculator for prioritization of reliability driven capital projects.
• Assess and refine methodology, to effectively and efficiently perform Hosting Capacity analysis (solar PV and EV) and develop HC Maps for external stakeholders (current process is manually and resource intensive with limited scope).  Identify new tools and data needs required to automate the Hosting Capacity Analysis and perform on a frequent basis.
• Provide technical support for the Improvement of quality and completeness of distribution system models and data needed for Planning Studies
Continually strive to innovate and integrate improvements to increase the precision and efficiency of Distribution Planning.
Strive to seek out and develop subject matter expert skills as necessary to mentor, support and lead the planning team to aid in the advancement of business needs.
Collaborate and interact with internal and global teams and industry peers.
 



Skills and Requirements

Education & Experience Requirements:
BSEE required with additional consideration given to applicants with Advanced Degrees or Certifications (e.g. MSEE, PE, etc.).
7+ years of experience (Distribution Planning)

• Theoretical Engineering knowledge: Planning, Operations and Engineering Design, Analytics, Modeling & Understanding the Business Model

• Practical Engineering Experience/Application: Planning, Operations and Investment process.

• Engineering documentation: Ability to adequately document and interpret engineering documentation, review and approve engineering work done by others
- Advanced
• Full Investment Process: Understanding of the end to end process of investment planning

1. Power System Studies - Knowledge & Interpretation of Study Assumptions and Results: (e.g. Comprehensive Area Studies, Power Flow, DER, Voltage, Contingency, phase imbalance, Power Factor correction, Short Circuit, reliability, resiliency, Capacity, distribution automation, etc.)
