Based in our Elyria, Ohio location, you will lead the implementation of automated manufacturing technologies and processes in a fast-paced CNC machining environment. You will design, plan, and deliver manufacturing system solutions that optimize cost, capital investment, and performance of highly automated machining cells. In collaboration with our product planning, engineering, manufacturing engineering and operations teams, you will design and develop processes that are designed for both performance and manufacturability. This position will research and monitor advanced manufacturing technology trends and appropriately integrate validated technology solutions into our global manufacturing facilities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Lead assigned strategic project programs - understanding customer needs, designing to meet both product and manufacturing requirements, and planning and implementing defined budgets, schedules, and resources.
Lead the development and implementation of process and equipment installations, including design, justification, and procurement.
Specify capital equipment required to execute the manufacturing plan.
Work with cross-functional teams to address current manufacturing challenges across multiple product lines.
Unearth cost reductions and drive continuous improvement by applying lean principles that are aligned with manufacturing strategies.
Collaborate with new product development groups to address industry trends, using design for manufacturing expertise to ensure all aspects of safety, quality, performance, economic value, and standards are achieved.
Perform design/manufacturing process FMEA activities, and determine root cause of failures using statistical methods (e.g. Design of Experiment, Statistical Process Control, Root Cause Analysis, A3).
Optimize processes associated with material/information flow , part workholding, tooling, and CNC programs to manufacture products to drawing dimensions and tolerances in an efficient manner.
Develop and advance new manufacturing technologies from supporting business case through application in a relevant production environment
Serve as technical support for assigned manufacturing responsibilities.
Facilitate and participate in kaizen events, workshops, and value stream mapping exercises to identify waste elimination opportunities in various processes, and recommend improvement actions

Required Qualifications

Four (4) year technical degree plus three (3) years related experience (intern/co-op experience will be considered) or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Appropriate knowledge, demonstrated competence, and experience in manufacturing machining technologies and related industries
Experience with fixture design
Understanding of Design for Manufacturing and Automation
Good organizational, project management, and presentation skills to interact with all levels within the organization and with suppliers and customers.
Ability to recognize and solve simple and complex problems in manufacturing system design
Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced engineering environment.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with solid modeling software (e.g., SolidWorks) and related tools
Experience with secondary manufacturing processes
CNC programming experience with a 3D CAM software (examples: Esprit, EdgeCAM, MasterCAM, GibbsCAM, TopSolid, etc).
Practitioner of LEAN manufacturing and application of LEAN tools.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
Ability to work independently without supervision
Ability to collaborate on a cross-functional team
