Responsible for the development, review, and technical oversight of all engineering and design of energy storage proposals Review customer’s RFP documents Develop and/or review System designs, Single Lines, Layouts, Containerization, Performance guarantees, Availability guarantees, etc. Collaborate with the other team members in the preparation and coordination of proposals, RFIs, and other marketing efforts Create and maintain technical specifications of our offerings, as well as specs. for our suppliers Support the development of contracts and exhibits, with customers and with suppliers Train/mentor other less experienced staff Develop tools to enable speed and quality Work with internal and external groups to drive down ESS cost, LCOE Benchmark competitor’s products and offerings, and communicate to team Maintain knowledge of applicable codes & standards and certifications in the Energy Storage industry Expect 20-25% travel Must have hands-on technical experience with Utility scale Energy Storage Systems Must have a sound understanding of the technical, performance, and integration of Li-Ion batteries as part of ESS Must have a sound understanding of Li-Ion battery technology, degradation, packaging, and how it fits in grid connected storage projects Must have hands-on experience creating ESS solutions and proposals to RFPs Must have good experience dealing with customers and suppliers Good understanding of commercial impacts of design decisions and supplier selections Experience installing or trouble shooting ESS is a plus Experience with Turnkey project proposals is a plus Should be eager to learn, self-motivated and able to function effectively with minimum support Must be sensitive and perform effectively in a multicultural environment EDUCATION: Education and/or Experience: Bachelor's degree in Engineering in Electrical or Mechanical; and approximately 5 plus years of relevant experience Technology/Product/Other knowledge and skillsExpertise to design multi-MW scale ESSExpertise in at least one of Utility Scale, C&I, or PV+ES systemsSound knowledge of DC and AC electrical design. The Energy Storage Applications Engineer will report to the Systems Engineering Manager and will be responsible for all technical work to deliver Battery Energy Storage Systems (ESS) proposals as part of Energy Storage business under Mitsubishi Power. This includes understanding of customer’s needs, energy profiles, and life cycle requirements, optimally selecting suppliers’ equipment, engineering and technical aspects of the design to ensure low life cycle cost, quality, reliability, constructability, and operation. Lead the development of standardized and/or project specific ESS for Utility Scale and C&I projects using Li-Ion, Inverter, and BOP technologies. Attend and present our solutions to customers. Support the creation of proposal documents, respond to RFIs, etc. Benchmark and evaluate new technologies or new offerings from suppliers, and integrate into our solutions.
